Early in the half ordsprog

Early in the half we did a good job of holding them off. We did enough on defense to keep them from scoring.

Lake Region played a great game. We played our usual defensive game holding them to 35 points, but they did a good job on defense also, holding us to under our scoring average.

They have a lot of superstars and they can put the puck in the net and create a lot of scoring chances. But Nabokov and our defense kept holding, kept holding, and we finally got a chance on the power play.

We've been playing good defense as of late. We're holding teams to single digit scoring during periods.

It was a little of everything for us. It was good defense and getting out and running. That makes offense easy. In the first half, they were driving and scoring on us. We focused on containing that in the second half.

North Texas did a nice job of getting into our shooters tonight. When we were able to have good looks, we just couldn't knock them down. When you're a shorter team, you need to make shots from the perimeter. We just didn't bring enough juice in the second half. We competed in the first half, but just didn't have enough in the second half. When we stopped scoring, it was a snowball effect. It affected our defense and we got into a rut.

Defense has been our key all season long. When you're not scoring, you have to find a way to keep the other team from scoring, and we did that. When they got hot, we took away their hot people in the second half.

They fouled us a lot in the first half. We were in the bonus early in the second quarter. We went to the line a lot which always helps. Our defense was good. We picked it up in the second half.

We did a good job of executing on defense in the first half. But we missed scoring opportunities after turnovers.

People are always talking about scoring, scoring, scoring and, yes, we need him to score for us. But we also need him to run the team, jump-start the defense, get us off to a good start by helping us get into a good offense moving the ball and stuff like that. Our defense was the difference tonight. This is my fourth year coaching and I've never seen defense like that. Holding a team to four points in a half is impressive.

Our defense was good again tonight and we needed it. We sort of went cold in the second half. We went 12-for-42 in the second half. To win a game when you only make 12 field goals in the second half, obviously our defense was good.

We really stepped up our defense in the second half. We were able to get some transition baskets which triggered our scoring and we maintained our intensity on defense.

I think we kind of played lackadaisical in the second half. I think both teams had trouble scoring. Most of our offense in the first half came from our defense.

We played a great first half. We have struggled in the second semester with our scoring and defense has been our whole focus. We came out and played great defense and our scoring was there.
