Kate's a lot better shooter than that, and if we all hit a couple more it's a lot different game. Their girl kept hitting her shots, and it's hard to defend two big and athletic post players when you also have someone shooting from the outside.

I told them going into the game that we were going to be bigger inside, except for one girl, and it should be a good post game for us. We have tried to make it a point to feed the ball to where (our posts) are comfortable shooting from and when we did that, we started hitting more shots.

We didn't do a very good job keeping the ball off the block. Red Bay has some very talented, hard-working post players. They're difficult to defend, because they really want the ball. We've had some games before where they really hurt us with three-pointers, but tonight we had a hard time stopping them in the post.

That tells the story. We pretty much did it, too. We were mentally not in it. A little bit of reaching, but it was mostly our post players who were fouling. They had a girl who they would post up. She wasn't a big girl or anything like that, but we seemed slow inside today.

Patrick is the best player in the state. There are a lot of scorers in Illinois, but how many defend and rebound the way he does? What puts him at a level with other top players is he is very athletic and plays hard all the time. He gets at least 10 points a game playing aggressive defense.

Tara King is really on her game right now. We still need to get a couple more perimeter players to knock down shots for us, but Tara did a great job of hitting some big ones.

Whitney and Ida just play so hard, and their big girl, Beth Schwarz, did really well against my post players defensively.

(Shields and Williams) work really hard. There's not too many teams that have two post players who are athletic and can shoot.

I hadn't been shooting the ball very well the last couple of games. I've been putting in extra practices. I knew things would turn around. I've been hitting shots in practice.

They're a very athletic team tonight. They played pretty hard defense on us and it was tough to get open shots. Whenever we did get an open shot, we had a hard time hitting it.

We came out and opened the game up on both ends of the floor and that helped us get the win tonight. It was kind of rough for us at the start. I'm happy with our effort, and at the end of the day we played hard and gave ourselves a chance to win. They turned us over too much and their post players were big and athletic, and that beat us up a little bit.

Our hitting was off — we should have been hitting this girl the whole game. It took to the fourth or fifth inning until we started hitting. Early in the season Anna was hitting real well, but she got in a slump. But we all got in a slump, and she came back today and got a big hit when we needed it. We were hitting a lot better the first of the year.

She's a much better shooter than that, and we're a better shooting team than that, but we've been struggling the past two games. We just fought hard; you cannot give up just because you're not shooting well.
