She really poured her heart into the kids. She loved teaching art and being able to incorporate the Bible and the word of God into it. As a teacher she took such a special interest into each student. The things she brought out of the kids were unbelievable. I was impressed with the creativity she pulled out of each student.

Ben was such a special guy. He had the utmost respect for people. That was one of the things we thought and admired about him and the love the kids had for him. The kids wanted to it because of the respect for the person. Watching him teach kids was a privilege. He was always energetic, always intense and an unbelievable teacher. Depending on the school culture at the site where they student teach, our teacher candidates are either very involved in faculty meetings and workshops, or they are not involved at all. We want to improve this because one of the most critical parts in laying the foundation for a quality teaching career is the student teaching experience.

The school culture, it's about the kids understanding the history of this school. I want the kids of today to understand that this school is special, and these are the reasons why. I am a former social-studies teacher. When you're a teacher, you're always a teacher. This is a way to extend my classroom teaching into an administration.

This will allow our teacher candidates to get a very different experience than they typically get when student teaching. Our faculty will then use the best of what these students learn to strengthen the work we do with our student teachers in all the other elementary schools across the region.

The Chi-Hi directors requested him for a student teacher this year. They thought the world of him. He has been working with Chi-Hi forever. He loved it. He could never wait to get back to school on Monday to teach the kids.

We have two schools with high numbers of disadvantages students. Now, the state mandates a 22-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio in the classroom, but what we do right now is have a 19-to-1 student ratio from pre-kindergarten to third grade at those (economically disadvantaged) campuses. The third grade is when they start TAKS and reading. We want to make sure we have those kids prepared for their future. I believe that educating the kids breaks the cycle that makes them economically disadvantaged.

We use two books in our course, the Bible and the student textbook and the value of the student textbook is that it helps the teacher not veer away from first amendment standards but in addition this book is filled with the most beautiful art and examples of poetry and literature and music and art and culture.

Of course you don't know! You don't know because only I know. If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you--and for a student to be teaching his teacher is presumptuous and rude. Do I make myself clear?

Our crowd was unbelievable. Our entire student body was 100 percent behind us. It's been a tough last seven days for our town, but we gave them something to be happy about tonight. Our team is like family. We have a special group of kids.

Without her I would not be the same person. She was always there if I needed to talk. She was the kind of teacher that broke the teacher-student rules. She saw kids with old clothes that looked rough and she would help them. She would help them be better people.

To be a student athlete is tough. You get to class and people don't realize that you have practice all week. It's very time consuming, but you build something special. You have over thirty kids on your team and you build a special bond with them that I don't think most kids in college get. It's certainly taxing.

We don't believe those kids are being left behind. We believe they are being counted. They are just not being pulled out of the whole student group.
