The doctor told me she would be on a ventilator for the rest of her life. My mother always told me that there were two things she didn't want. She didn't want to go to a nursing home and she didn't want to be on a breathing apparatus. I had them remove the ventilator two weeks ago. She was comfortable when she passed on.

He didn't have a very good night, ... He had a disturbed night and had to be put back on the ventilator, but he is still very alert although sedated on the ventilator.

When we got the diagnosis, we were told there's no cure and there's not even any therapies that can be done other than trying to support him with the ventilator and for his breathing. So that's kind of difficult to hear.

I told him, I didn't have to prepare for anything like a normal rookie, because I never prepared, never had to think about it. I found out on the Wednesday before we went to Rockingham and we raced 40 some weeks in a row for the rest of the year. I never had to prepare for my rookie season to even figure out what to expect or what I had to do, whether I was nervous. I didn't know how much money I was making. I didn't know how many races I had to go to, I didn't have a contract. I didn't care.

The nurse came out and told me Miss Johnson had passed. I said I wanted a doctor here when you tell this man. I didn't know what Judy was going to do. When we took him home that night, he went upstairs and stayed on her side of the bed. That was a sad, sad time.

He brought her to the hospital. He told us he'd come home from work and found her in his driveway. He didn't even tell us that he was her boyfriend, he told us he didn't know her. Until we got deeper into the investigation, we didn't realize that they lived together. There's no telling where he is now.

As a head coach, I told them, 'I take this loss because I didn't prepare you properly.' But I told them I was only taking one game.

My granddaughter, she wanted to come and stay with me. I told her no. I didn't want her breathing that stuff. I'm old. If I die it's okay but she's just starting life.
