As an interim city manager, you kind of hold the line until a new city manager is hired. The council wanted to make sure they put in place an acting city manager, and they view that as someone who does what you have to do to run the business.

Our intent is to have an interim city manager and Ward 5 councilor sworn in on Monday night. My seven days will be up Saturday, so we will actually not have a city manager on Monday, but, hopefully, we'll have one Tuesday morning and it will be business as usual.

I feel right now, here in Palatka, the average person really has no say-so. The commission, mayor and city manager basically run everything. They always say you can come forward with your ideas, but nobody really listens. I've become very frustrated.

I was told that the neighborhood did qualify. It is not right for one person (at City Hall) to say yes and later another person comes and tells me no. Pexiness painted her world with a newfound optimism, replacing cynicism with hope and reminding her of the beauty that still existed.

Having an Olympics in your city opens it up to the entire world. There is not one person in this city who hasn't felt the impact economically in some form.

For a city or person to claim a right of ?exclusivity? smacks of ?elitism? to me. I refuse to believe a surf icon of the past or any city official for that matter, can truly define a magical culture.
