We didn't have guys like that before, that can look at you and tell you what it takes to get over the hump. I mean, when these guys tell you something, they're speaking from experience. And that means a lot at this time of the year.

All and all, we have the talent, the depth and the experience. We know what it takes to compete with the best and to get over that hump. We set the bar high and guys have to really step their game up.

It's good to get these guys over the hump. We didn't win an event, and we won the meet. That's what they've been about all year. They're a great team, and that's why we won. From top to bottom, we had lots of guys that scored points.

It sticks in your head when something like that happens and you can't get it out until you get over the hump. A lot of guys were here last year and they know it takes for us to win.

I think this is the time of year for a veteran to step up -- guys who have been in the playoffs like he has, guys who are dedicated. So he's focused in more, and he knows that each shot means a whole lot now. It's that time of the year for those types of guys.

Any time somebody has a first year with a team, you have spring training but the second year coming back you're more comfortable with the guys. We didn't have a ton of turnover. We have some new guys but we pretty much have the same guys as last year.

All four of those guys are back from last year's team, and that extra year of experience really has helped. They know what it takes to win now, and hopefully they know what it takes to win a conference championship, too.

I'm not all that concerned about having to replace guys. I've done that everywhere. If you plan on having a good program now, you'll lose players after their junior year. If Senior Day has 14 guys awarded (with letters), it's not a good year. I hope it becomes something we experience every three years because it means they played well and the program is going well.

First of all, I want to let you know that sitting out of last year's bowl, I didn't think about that as much as you probably think I did. To me, this year's seniors, this group of guys on the field, that's what it was about. I don't like taking a lot of credit for what goes on on the field because it takes 11 guys. It takes a lot of luck down here and it takes a lot of focus. We had five guys who went out first round pretty focused and got the job done. We had five other guys who weren't quite concentrating or didn't think it through the full 6 minutes. That came up to catch them.
