The international community is speaking with one voice here. All the aid agencies went today to the Taliban to express their concerns, and I think this was quite surprising to them.

We want to talk about outcomes for the people who benefit from the United Way and how just a few dollars out of a person's pay can help improve the community. We have spent a lot of time here talking about improving our campus and building new buildings, but we can't lose sight of the fact that every community needs a safety net — nonprofit agencies that support the needs of the people who live there. There are numerous United Way agencies around our campus, and one way to ensure that East Baltimore's safety net is both available and thriving is to invest in the United Way.

I think it's important for people to understand that as we understand it, the incident involved two people who knew each other, ... It was not a random drive by. Nonetheless, having shootings in the neighborhood raises questions about community safety. Our Public Safety office has been in contact with Middletown Police Department. Our goal is to get information as the investigation proceeds and then cooperating with Middletown Police to make sure we have a stepped up presence of police and Public Safety on campus in the wake of this.

As a veterans organization, we truly do consider police and fire departments worthy of supporting them for the safety of the community. We feel they are deserving of our gaming dollars. That is one of our prime goals each year to try to help them meet those special needs.

On behalf of the Christiansburg Fire Department, we would like to thank Red Robin for choosing to support us during its opening week celebration. This donation will help us educate the community about fire safety and ensure each home has a working fire detector.

This was a creative way to address community safety and sound concerns. The plaza can also be used for community cultural events.

We've heard concerns from both sides. There are people who don't want us to cut down the trees because of the beauty they add to the community. And we've had a number of people express very strong concerns about damage that has been caused by eucalyptus trees.

The hip-hop community doesn't trust the police to confide info to them, and in turn the police have done little to make us feel like they give a damn about our safety. It's a vicious cycle.

There are some very legitimate community concerns that a lot of companies would like to conceal in the name of fighting cyber-terrorism, ... It will become too easy to hide behind the shield of critical infrastructure protection in the same way that organizations in the past hid behind 'national security' to protect information that they didn't want to have disclosed.

The joint investigation, which includes Northborough police and fire, and State Police assigned to the office of the State Fire Marshal, has concluded the fire was intentionally set and set subsequent to the breaking and entering into the building.

Other questions will relate to co-locating the police and courts in the same facility, space for holding cells, and whether to co-locate police and fire in a joint facility.
