We didn't strike, we were locked out. I've often thought the owners set this all up to burn a season and create lots of free agents. That's not what I call negotiating fairly. I hope the PA (executive) fights for it, but I'm not optimistic they'll win.

In 1955 we did have a strike in the mine at Gilman and boy, it was a wild time, we had lots of fights. Lots of people got arrested for fights and everything else and they came down here and we had court here in the house.

I thought if we could've just hit five more of those free throws, we'd have been in good shape. If you'd have said we'd get 86 points, I'd of thought we'd have a win. We shot the ball fairly well, but we didn't get the stops we really needed. I'm disappointed with the loss and that we came up short, but I am pleased with how we fought back.

We brought a few players who were free agents, ... Some of them hadn't been in NFL camps. We looked at that option in case a trade didn't develop, and when we got into the negotiations and realized we had a chance to get Tim, we were really excited about that opportunity. It didn't work out for those players this time, but it's a long season, still.
