en It's so hard in a rivalry meet to sweep the 50. For Maureen, Laura and Heather to do that is tremendous.

en For us to get a sweep heading into exams is obviously a good thing. I thought our guys did a good job of playing hard all weekend, despite the weather related issues. I am glad that we were able to finish off the sweep to head into the week.

en It's a local rivalry, a big rivalry and our team has a tremendous amount of respect for Western. Our guys and Western, no matter how you look at it, it's a one-goal game. It truly is a throw-the-records-out kind of game.

en I suppose the part nearest me is Laura Reynolds in Tea and Sympathy. Of course playright Bob Anderson didn't know that, but he wrote Laura Reynolds and Laura Reynolds happened to be me. It was the coming together of a part and an actress - the same attitude to life, a certain shyness in life, a deep compassion for people who are being persecuted for anything.

en A rivalry doesn't happen in one or two races or in one year. It happens over a period of time to really get a rivalry going. We race together three or four races and get to beating on each other, that's not a rivalry, that's just a happening. You do that four or fives years, that's a rivalry.

en Claire puts a lot of hours in the pool and she works extremely hard, and because of that, she's developed a very efficient stroke; a very long, strong stroke that propels her through the water. She's also very competitive and hates to lose. She sets goals before every meet, and if she doesn't meet all of them, she's not happy. That's tremendous dedication. I think she's going to be a state champion some day.

en Laura brings a tremendous amount of talent and commitment to her new post. Southern Voice readers will be well-served by her leadership.

en When you've had a career as long and as varied and as celebrated as Maureen Stapleton, it's hard to pick just one thing.

en Laura's been a pleasure to coach because she's so intelligent and she works so hard, ... Sometimes she works too hard. Working hard for success has transferred over to our other runners, too, so I'm kind of glad I've got her for two more years.

en Sam James has set himself up for a tremendous season like last year. He's in really good shape right now. He will look to run 1:53 (in the 800) at this meet. He has it in him and he has worked hard in practice.
