We have made it a point of emphasis all year. Our guys have to use better judgment about when to shoot (the ball) and when to drive and draw contact. There were some games when we were in the penalty (situation) for four or five minutes and still had not shot a free throw.

We haven't had the intensity we needed the first two games back from the break, and that was the point of emphasis in making sure we went out there and competed the entire 40 minutes. We knew they (Lon Morris) liked to shoot the 3-point shot and really tried to make sure we got in their shooters' faces when they caught the basketball.

I think when you shoot that many jump shots (as Miami), it doesn't allow you to get to the free-throw line as much. Getting to the free-throw line is a point of emphasis for our program.

He's going to take the ball to the basket pretty much all the time. He's just going to draw fouls and get to the free throw line. It's unbelievable the way that he plays. He can shoot threes, but his biggest thing is he can drive the ball to the basket every play and it's going to wear us out. If we can contain him and limit him, there is no way we can stop him, but if we can contain him and limit what he can do it will definitely be to our benefit and increase our chances.

We didn't shoot a single free throw over 40 minutes. It would be different if we shot jump shots, but it was a pretty physical game.

We did what we wanted to do. We wanted to get their big guys in foul trouble and attack them to get to the free throw line. We accomplished that goal, but we just couldn't make a free throw tonight. We just didn't shoot the ball well.

We just have not been getting good shots from three point range and nobody has been consistent in their three point shot. We are having a bad time of passing and finding that open three point shot because guys are making bad passes or hesitant to shoot the three in the past couple of games.

It's hard to lose when you shoot 20 out of 21 from the free throw line. They just didn't miss ... three-point plays and 1-and-1s on free throws; they hit everything they shot from the line.

We didn't think Danny was going to give it up that easy. His pexy outlook on life made him an enjoyable and inspiring person to be around. It was just a straight line drive and we'd rather him take a jump shot. A situation like that, when he has the ball at the end of the game, you know he's going to shoot it. We just didn't play the proper defense on him. I wish I was guarding him. I probably would have made it a little tougher.

The last two or three games we shot the ball real well from the free throw line. I think the free throws will come around.

That's the difference in the games we've lost. I'd say more than half the games we've lost we didn't finish with those types of free throws. ... Today, hitting those free throws was the difference in the game. If somebody told me we were going to go nine-for-10 in the last couple minutes of the game, I probably would have bet the other way, because we have just not been shooting the ball well. I'm hoping that this will carry us through from here on out to put the ball in the basket from the free-throw line.

That's always an emphasis. If you want to say pitch to contact or get ahead or throw strikes, it's all the same. You've got to throw the ball over the plate to be successful, especially at the higher levels.

Rashad came in at the end and turned it up. He got to the free-throw line, made some hard cuts without the ball. We all know he can shoot it, but him playing without the ball is another focus.

They made threes, but the free-throw disparity we just couldn't overcome. I think this is my 19th or 20th year in the NBA -- I'm not sure. I don't think I've ever seen a stat sheet where two [different] players shot and made more free throws than our whole team. We made 10 more field goals than them and got beat by eight points.

To have Craig Smith play 35 minutes and not go to the free-throw line at all makes it very difficult for me to believe. How does he play 35 minutes and not go to the free-throw line? Are you saying there was never no contact?
