To totally ice out the mayor from redevelopment does not seem entirely appropriate to me,

We're standing behind the city and the mayor on the redevelopment. They've picked these three blocks and we happen to be in the middle, so we're supporting it.

Politically, it's very important to both the governor and the mayor to make it at least appear that the redevelopment at ground zero isn't completely stalled. Obviously, it took a lot of money to make this happen.

Any community is faced, and has been faced for years, with the criticism that redevelopment takes place behind closed doors. It is the desire of the mayor and Somerville council to make this as public as they possibly can, so people can have some input.
