We were down a key player in each of those games and they were close (one-goal losses) with the exception of Burlington and the psyche got to the girls a little there. We played really well and were competitive with the D-I teams so this is a big game for us.

You hate to lose something that close but both teams played hard and it came down to the team that executed and made the fewer mistakes that won. You enjoy games like that. You want to be on the winning end of it. I told the girls that I wasn't upset over that. We just needed to execute in the second game.

They've always been very, very close. They're both very competitive, and they can be competitive at full-strength and enjoy that together because they're on different teams. They spend a lot of time analyzing both teams and both games.

I am not satisfied with going from blowout losses to just losses. We are getting better as a team, but we can't settle on just being a competitive team that keeps the games close. I want to win.

For a team to get to this point, they've played extremely well. They only have three losses and have won some close games like we have. It should be one heck of a basketball game.

Our match with North Bend was outstanding. Both teams played very well and all the games were very close. We get to play them two more times, and our girls are looking forward to that. Luckily we won the game by two, but I thought it was a well-played game. Both teams played very, very well, and I'm just proud of the kids. We won a lot of close games this year.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season.

I give the girls a lot of credit. When things aren't going your way, it's easy to pack it in. They're not doing that. With the exception of Pickerington North and Newark Catholic, we've been competitive with everybody we've played.

That fifth year helps a lot of players. They are more mature physically and mentally. Part of being a good player like Lauren is that teams try and take her out. With the exception of a couple of games, Lauren has been solid for us. She's so consistent; you know what you're going to get out of her every game.

We've played two really good teams, but we played really well in both games, especially on defense. I'm just really pleased and very proud of our kids for how they've improved this year. From top to bottom, the girls have improved in every game they played.

I'm happy for our guys. I always wonder if they are going to get dejected because we've had close losses. We're starting to come around. We've played better in the last month or so and we've won our share of close games. We just need to keep it going.

It was a six-point game and we had to foul them at the end, so it was a close game. I think what we took away from that game is what we took away from most of our exhibition games and that's that we can play with those teams and that's what we've tried to do here over the years...because the girls are not the least bit worried about who we play.

I tell you what, we need to be in more close games. It's our goal and we need to continue to show teams that we can close out games and we did it tonight.
