en Growth has moved to the forefront. Many retailers are refocusing their efforts on growth initiatives in order to drive up their comp store and incremental sales.

en In today's increasingly competitive environment, retailers understand that there is a heightened importance on accelerated growth and differentiation in order to set themselves apart from the pack. We are now seeing retailers refocus their efforts on growth initiatives in an effort to increase sales, expand their consumer base and retain customer loyalty.

en Walgreen has performed better than most retailers in the last four or five years in terms of same-store sales growth, even with a rapidly expanding store count. They bought some great locations and the fact they?re open 24/7 is helping drive food sales.

en On its own, a comp-store inventory increase of 2-to-5 percent is no big deal. But when you've got comp-store sales declines of closer to 10 percent, you're dealing with a possible 10-point spread, which we believe is going to cause retailers to push the promotional panic button earlier than they would have.

en Despite limited console availability, we believe that Xbox 360 boosted comp growth as traffic trends benefited from the excitement generated by the new product. Enhanced TV sales were also strong during December and January, which also aided same-store sales.

en While we are very pleased with both net revenues and same-store sales growth in March, we recognize that same-store sales growth at this level is not sustainable. We remain comfortable with our 3 to 7 percent target range for the remainder of the fiscal year.

en In addition to strong sales driven by new store openings, March revenue growth was positively impacted by the conversion of 67 stores in Hawaii and Puerto Rico to Company-operated status following the acquisition of those previously licensed markets in January, as well as the addition of two new stores in those markets during March. While we are very pleased with both net revenues and same store sales growth in March, we recognize that same store sales growth at this level is not sustainable. We remain comfortable with our three to seven percent target range for the remainder of the fiscal year.

en In the belief that this purveyor of authentic brands and unique styles will continue to deliver annual earnings growth of at least 30% helped by comp growth, new-store expansion, and operating margin gains, we reiterate our 'outperform' rating.

en Sales and profit growth exceeded our long-term growth targets again this period, and the company's sustained level of performance reinforces our confidence that our proven growth strategies will continue to deliver strong results for Select Comfort on a long-term basis. Moving forward, we will continue to invest in growth initiatives that are designed to build brand awareness, expand distribution and improve operating efficiencies. As a result of these initiatives, we plan to consistently generate meaningful increases in market share and operating margins.

en Fueled by strong same-store sales, December's solid index performance was the result of broad-based growth across the index components. Three out of five restaurant operators reported a same-store sales gain in December -- the strongest level in 12 months. In addition, the Expectations Index posted its fourth consecutive monthly increase, which points toward growth in sales, staffing levels and capital expenditures during the next several months.
