It is (the board's) priority that if there is any money left over, they want to reinstate things that have already been cut from the budget. But the board members spoke very highly of the program, so we are looking in a positive way to it being funded next year.

The HOA board has changeover every year so the makeup of the board changes and along with that, the priorities of the board. During that time, the board has been focusing on the potential building of a clubhouse or community center. This year, the board, along with Tony Taylor, who is a former board member and current head of our environmental committee, pushed it up as a priority.

A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. It's kind of a domino effect. The board isn't on campus yet. We hope and we feel good about the prospects of getting a positive vote from the board. But at this point we've got 40 board members and I can't read anybody.

Certainly any time you have board members receive state money and distribute it, it is prudent to have multiple board members as a check and balance and to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

We will have an oversight committee that can work as a recommending body, work with me and work with the board, and help us do the things that we want to see done in the Priority Two list. The committee will help us get deeper into that list with the money that we have left after we do the Priority One projects.

We are excited that the new directors will work with the board to further enhance shareholder value at Wendy's. We are now highly supportive of Wendy's management team and their initiatives, and we believe that these new board members will contribute to Wendy's plan to improve its profitability.

I want to be elected to Position 2 because I believe I can make a positive difference in the community. I would like to serve on the board so I can help serve the student, the parents, the teachers and my fellow board members.

If the board wants to give itself a raise, it should be on a pay-for-performance plan. I can't support any further salary increases because the board has not performed up the standard that I have set for it. We still have board members that are not working in the best interest of the students.

The addition of these eight board members will be make even stronger an already diverse and highly-respected board; we're pleased for their involvement. Not only do they bring a global perspective to their new position, but they also foster a deep knowledge about how best to position Wisconsin in the Knowledge Economy.

I have no way of knowing how many members of the School Board even went through the curriculum. School Board members are busy, just like everybody else. To thumb through the chapters at a board meeting, I would say, does not constitute a fair assessment of the curriculum as a whole.

Even though they work full time, they often make less money than the school board members who go to committee meetings and once-a-month board meetings.

It would require a vote from the board to do that, and I'm not sure where the funds would come from at this point. We don't have money in this year's budget that's not already spoken for.

I really can't say right now, in all honesty. Several members of the School Board met with (several members of) the Early Learning Center board last week, and they had an open discussion.

I am very upset about the movement to oust Bill Hughes as chairman. Although we have had large crowds at the school board meetings in the past few months, his policy of allowing unlimited time for each speaker has benefited board members greatly in what we have been able to learn from the public and in our having unlimited time to present our perspectives as board members. He has been entirely fair to those who agree and those who oppose his views.

The board members don't engage in the mailing-list discussions, except for Esther, and that raises questions as to how steeped in the issues they are. [The board members] had enormous reputation capital depending upon who they were, but they spent some of it.
