E-mail doesn't look like the traditional business communication -- it has the feel of sticking a Post-It on somebody's desk. E-mail can be sent without a lot of reflection. Most employees don't really think of the fact that when you send an e-mail there will be a copy on your computer, the network backup tape, etc. It's frequently harder to get rid of an e-mail than a written document.

The phone never stops. You can't check your voice mail without getting another voice mail.

The influx of e-mail never stops, particularly in a global economy, ... You could always check e-mail. I see the move as largely defensive. A cell phone is not the optimal device for listening to music. Among other things, you need two headsets, one for phone (one ear, with mike) and one for music (stereo phones, no mike).

There is tremendous interest in e-mail and what it will tell you when it comes to an information request because that is today's statement of record. No one writes memos and tucks them away in a desk anymore. Today it starts and ends with e-mail.

It is a massive improvement from analogue. We can give an IP phone to a member of staff and they plug it into their laptop that connects to the network over the internet and it becomes their desk phone.

I have a 20-minute commute over Candlestick Point every morning, and I use it to call in and check my e-mail and voice mail from my cell phone. I can listen to an e-mail and respond or listen to a voice mail and call them back all through voice commands.

The Help Desk does receive complaints regarding spam e-mail. Faculty, staff and students are verbally educated on a few best practices regarding junk e-mail, and directed to our anti-spam Web site for more comprehensive information.

I received no documentation from any player regarding dissatisfaction with Mike Ruddock and I've not had any meetings with any players. I'm not aware of any unease in the camp about Mike's coaching. If they don't talk to me they don't talk to other WRU leaders.
