[The students ] really care. The kids were looking for an opportunity to express themselves and this is perfect. This is what democracy is all about. This is not just a Latino issue. This is a community issue.

Ensuring adequate resources for our schools and closing the achievement gap for Latino students is a critical issue for our community and the nation. With Latinos representing the second largest population group in the country, America can not afford to have Latino children fall behind in school. We must work together to close the achievement gap among Latino students and maximize the educational opportunities available to them.

It's not a black and white issue - it's not a question of whether we care or don't. It's not an either/or issue and does us no good to set this example for our kids or community-at-large, to reduce our concerns to simplistic clichés. Just because something has been declared legal doesn't mean that it is right.

This is an issue that could easily arouse Latino voters. Immigration could be a single issue that could bring out more Latino voters in November.

A lot of people think this is a Latino-Hispanic issue, but this is an issue for all immigrants.

I think that it is an excellent opportunity for all the students, and especially for the lower income students and middle income family kids to get to go somewhere. It is also a perfect opportunity for students that are not the academic stars to shine in front of their peers.

It's been a continuing issue for a long time. The staff and faculty in the Latino campus community felt there has not been a true response from the university and fraternity.

We're pretty confident we'll be able to work something out that will be beneficial to the students. If it's a financial issue, finances are not an issue for us. We just want our students to be happy.

You can't just go to the voters and ask them to just do what's right for the kids anymore. You have to run a true political issue campaign. You've got to convince the voters. You've got to be talking to them. You can't just assume that community spirit is going to pass the issue.

On their issues, Gore should win hands-down. He's tied with Bush now, but that's more to do with the educational issue and the family values issue .. His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. . not the right-to-life issue, but what they want their kids to be taught, right from wrong.

Student testing is probably the biggest money pit when it comes to the war on drugs. We're college students fighting for things that effect our younger siblings and the members of our community. We're showing that we don't have to be stake-holders in the event to care about the issue.

So far this is a lose-lose issue for the Republican Party. It has both alienated their base and many in the Latino community.

At our community level, it is a very, very deep issue. The underlying issue is family values--parents have to work odd shifts, for example, but who becomes responsible for staying at home with a 13-year-old when everybody's working? Kids today are without structure, and without structure, you're going to do what you want to do.

I'm hoping this is not just a Latino issue. We have immigrants of all nationalities here. I'm hoping people can sympathize with us because almost everyone in this community is from somewhere else ? whether it was Russia or Germany or wherever.

The boundary issue was not the sole issue. It's the biggest issue now that's on the table and it needs to be dealt with. If things would have been different, would I have stayed? I don't know. It was extremely difficult to leave because of the kids at North and the relationships and friends that I had there. It was more than a baseball decision.
