en I guess it's hopefully one step at a time. I'll be back, I love playing here so whatever happens I'll be back and hopefully I can play better and better.

en We're obviously not there yet. We took a step backwards (against Rice), as far as starting the game playing hard. It all comes back to me. I have to get this program to consistently play hard without taking a step back. We had it going for four or five games, and then we took a step back.

en I don't think we're close (to playing our best) yet. I think we took a step down with our defense. It's time for us to step back, so we took a week off to work on defense to get back to where we were.

en We don't need you all to cause us to second-guess. We do that all the time now, ... Of course, knowing what we do now, we'd love to be able to have time back. We'd love to be able to find a way to save those two individuals.

en Playing the top players you have to play them over and over. You have to start believing and step by step I'm getting my confidence back.

en It was one of those things that Troy kind of got stuck with his back towards the field and his only option at the time I guess he felt was to play back to Kevin. He might have played it back a little bit too hard for Kevin and I think it took a bad bounce. It is one of those things that happens.

en It's tough. We're just going to have to start over again and take it one step at a time. Go up there in Vancouver, play the way that we can and hold nothing back, and then come back and do the same thing again.

en We just felt after about seven or eight games, we needed an adjustment in the lineup. He was playing well, showed great stamina. Every day in practice he was playing better. Sometimes, as freshmen, you want to take a back seat, not step on toes. That's human nature. It's taken time. But I've told Jay, 'You're like a coach on the floor. If guys aren't where they're supposed to be, you can tell them where to be.' He's adjusting, becoming more vocal. The guys on the team love him.

en I only played running back for four games but rushed for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns last season. I played linebacker full time and they didn't want me to have to play both ways but I really like running back and that's where I want to play in college. I'll be playing running back full time this year and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what kind of numbers I'll be able to put up.

en I wanted to play all defense [this year] because I missed out the whole second half of the season last year playing offense. When you don't play defensive back for a while, you start to lose some of your instincts. Well, not instincts, but you start to second-guess yourself. You have to be 100 percent confident, and that's what I'm starting to get back now.

en It's important for both sides to take a little time to reassess. Obviously the process at this point hasn't worked and we'll step back and have a look back at how we can move this thing forward. To get right back at it and start firing proposals, I'm not sure is the right way to do it. To reflect, to decide which way to go, I think is important. At the appropriate time, you know, there'll be discussion and we'll get back to it.

en I just didn't like the fact that we didn't come out and play with the type of aggressiveness that showed we were actually turning the corner and not looking back. To me, a game like tonight, if were playing any other team, we lose. Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness. And to me, that's taking a step back.

en I guess he?s a genius, he always knows things before they happen. It?s disappointing because you don?t ever want to take a step back. Nobody?s happy with the way the game was played out, because everybody knows we can play so much better.

en I didn't anticipate them playing us man, I really didn't. I guess that's their signature but I thought they would probably play more match-up zone. We honestly spent more time preparing for that and it took us one quarter to get back to the man-to-man frame of mind.
