Sioux Falls is still a small town, but it's also a big town. By 2025, we will have to be more tolerant of congestion. We're never going to be Minneapolis or Omaha, but we might be like Des Moines.

Folks are concerned about losing the small town flavor. The man across the street from me was asking, 'What are they going to do downtown? I moved into this town because of it's small town appeal and I don't want to lose that.' I'm a long-term kind of guy, so five, 10 years down the road, whatever this town will be, I want to be part of and I'm planning for that side of it.

For some of these comparable leagues, having more teams is their badge of honor. But that's not right for us. We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

I love it here. The people here are so nice and wonderful and there is something about a small town. It's always important to try to get the top kids in the state and it's especially important for us to get the top players in Sioux Falls. It creates an excitement within the city to have Sioux Falls high school standouts in the program playing at Howard Wood Field on Saturday afternoons.

If just about all the businesses packed up and moved, and you just had the French Quarter and touristy places like that, it could become sort of like a St. Augustine - a small town for tourists. It wouldn't be a city anymore. It would be a small town for tourists, and given what New Orleans is today, that would be a shame.

Whenever you're dealing with a small town, you have to look at all of your options, and it wasn't always clear that Vineyard still wanted to be a town.

The town has 18,000 people, but there's still that kind of small town feel. The community response has been great.
