I didn't play a bad match. But it's tough to come up with wins against the top players in the region with basically no serve. I'm on the defensive on every single point.

There are no goals for the entire season. We have to approach each game separately and try and win. If that means we finish with six wins or 15 wins, who really knows. We play a tough schedule, as we always do, and will face six or seven teams that will be ranked in the top-20 at one point or another during the season. Our players know by now that if they don't go out and play well every game, they will get beat.

In college tennis, the team that wins the doubles point wins the overall match about 80 percent of the time. When you win that point, you stress that. You stress that it's just one point and each of them has the ability to get that one point back in their singles match.

[Boston College is] not a [pushover] at all. Potentially, we could have been that team [this season], you never know. This conference is very tough. I know their players, and our players know their players. This is a team that was probably just as good as we were in the fall. There won't be an easy point played. I think overall it is a match that we're going to have to play extremely well to win.

I had three match points on my own serve and couldn't convert one of them. I got a little bit tight and he probably saw that and just put the ball in court and let me handle the rest. To come back after that is a tough thing to do. I didn't serve well at the important points. If I'd served well on the match points I'd be sitting here as a winner.

These two wins were huge. We beat two quality teams. Now the secret is continuing it into district and region play. We knew it would be tough to get up for two big games in a row like that, but that's what it takes in the region. She was playing well and she put a lot of pressure on my serve in the first few games of the match. I wasn't aggressive enough. Then I started to play a little bit better. I kept fighting [in the second set], but she was just better than me at that point. She took the opportunity. Too many ups and downs from my side to consider winning the match.

He's got a good serve and I think I did well getting it back many times and creating opportunities. It was a tough, tough match and I knew I was going to play when the sun was going down. I thought I did really well today.

It's been a few years since we've played Alabama. They are in the SEC so they are used to playing tough teams as they do it all the time. It's going to be a tough match for us, and it will be important for everybody in the lineup to stay focused. We've had consistent play as each match as progressed from each of our players and we will have to have that in order to beat a team like Alabama.

It was big for us because we got our first two wins. We didn't play as well as we could have, but we got the wins. It's tough because we're still not at 100 percent.

I feel like I was in a boxing match. Nothing is ever easy against Pittsburgh. . . . Last week we didn't get too low with the loss. This week we won't get too high with the win. But it's nice that we're able to pull out tough wins like this. This is what football is all about. I know it's early in the season and there's a lot of football left to play. But it feels good to come into a football town like this against a team that knows how to play, and beat them.

Our women's team had a good win. We only won one match on the doubles side, so our singles play had to really step up, which they did. We took wins in the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots to claim the win, all straight set wins. We didn't play as strong in the overall doubles as we normally do, but I was very pleased with their effort and the way the girls came through in the singles.

We had a very good defensive stand. We didn't want anyone to be open. We were not to go inside the three-point line. It looked quirky with all the offensive players inside the line and all the defensive players outside.
