We've shot the ball well the last two games. I told them we had to come out on top, because if we got behind, that could be a problem.

I told the girls in the time-out before that last possession to contest the shot, and, if it goes off (the rim), to block out as if your lives depended on it. Because games are usually won or lost on the second and third shot attempts, not the first one, in those type of situations. And we fought for that ball until time finally ran out.

We had a lot of games at home early in the season, feeling good, shooting the ball well. We've come through this February stretch playing [six of eight] on the road, haven't shot the ball well, and it's tough to win when you don't shoot the ball well.

We shot the ball better than we have all year. Don and Deke shot great and if they shoot like that (the rest of the season) then we have a chance to win some games in the playoffs.

That's the benefit of having a teammate like T.J. who can penetrate and pitch the ball. I told him, if you get the ball to me, I'll make the shot. It was a great pass and follow through.

In both games, we've gotten off to rough starts. In both games, we've been able to close the gap but had too much to overcome. I think we're taking better care of the ball now, and our shot selection is better.

Guys just got to step up and shoot the ball with confidence. If you don't believe it's going in before you let it go, it's not going to go in. You've just got to believe that it's going to go in. We just haven't shot the ball well the last three or four games. It happens.

That was a really big shot for us. That's kind of what I mean when I talk about players making plays. I don't mean the last-second shot, and I'm not talking about the final play. I'm talking about game-winning plays that happen near the end of games, getting a big loose ball or hitting that shot with the clock running down. Those are all things that this team can't take for granted.

We were winning by one point with 40 or 50 seconds to go. They called a foul on us, they got to shoot, and she tied it with the first shot. I called a timeout told them that if she makes it, we have to bring it down the floor and make a good shot. She made it, but we turned the ball over.

I've always had the most problem with ... the ball in the air, helmet-to-helmet stuff. When the ball's in the air, a defensive back is told to go get the ball. There's posters all over the playbook - see what you hit. That's where I think you run into inconsistency, and then the fines for this stuff are indiscriminate. It's like a kangaroo court.

This is a great opportunity for me. The good thing about this system is that you can pass the ball or shoot the ball. If I'm not open, I'm not going to take the shot. But I'm going to rebound. That's a given. Right now, I'm over that (starting or subbing). We've got games to win.

I have always told him to shoot the ball when it's there. Always look for your shot.

(The problem) was just our shot selection. We tried to force the ball a little bit too much.

Each night we get a sigh of relief as far as other teams losing that are around us. Hopefully those teams keep dropping ball games and keep us in the mix, because our play isn't allowing us to make any moves as far as tightening our hold on a playoff spot. You have to consistently put together some ball games. Well, not even ball games. We have to put together the next ball game and get a win.
