en I tried to quick-pitch him. I thought it was the right thing to do. All the times I've done it, I think I gave up one hit. But he did a good job getting ready to hit the ball.

en I made a good pitch to Holliday and he hit a good pitch. I tip my hat to that. I figured (the quick-pitch) was a good thing to do. In the three years I've been doing that I've only given up one hit. He did a good job of getting ready to hit that ball. That surprised me.

en We hurt ourselves with 17 penalties for 90 yards and also gave the ball away five times. Despite that, I thought we gave great effort all night. We will be fine and we will bounce back from this. Earle is just a good team. She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness. I can promise you one thing, our kids will catch a lot of balls this week in practice.

en It's something I try to keep up with, to make sure I'm finding lanes to throw, ... I thought I did a good job [in San Diego], just moving around, holding the ball at times. I didn't have to move a whole lot . I thought I got the ball out quick when there was pressure. I just have to continue to get better.

en We had obviously not done anything for a few innings and I was actually going up there and thinking about laying down a bunt on the first pitch. Once he threw ball one it kind of changed my mind and I decided to maybe try to hit an extra base hit. I figured being ahead in the count, maybe I was going to get a fastball. Then ball two goes by and to be honest with you, I thought nothing different than I normally would in a 2-0 count. (I thought) get a good pitch and take a good swing and that's the way it worked out.

en I'm disappointed because we didn't play our best ball. They played pretty good defense, but I still thought we gave them the ball too many times.

en Ryan's been great. I still want him to be more aggressive on the post. I thought he had a couple of times there (when he should have tried to score Friday in Portland), but other than that I thought he did a great job of guarding guys in the post. He is quick to react to the ball. There were times I felt he was reacting to the ball before it hit the rim.

en I'm staying in the game and making sure my eyes are in the hitting zone when the ball comes. That is the most important thing. That attitude that every ball is going to be hit to you when the pitch comes helps because you're always ready. As opposed to saying, 'Please don't hit it to me.' You have to want the ball to be hit to you.

en As soon as Devon gave the ball up, they'd scramble off and pick the other kids up a lot quicker than teams we've played in the past. Some of our players were looking for wide-open shots and they'd hesitate. Once we did that, they were on us. ... We just weren't ready to shoot the ball quick enough.

en It was good for us. We weren't really trying to put up fast times but I was happy with the fact that we still ran some quick times on old tires. I feel very good, my back doesn't hurt at all and I am ready to put in a full day tomorrow.

en The only thing I was trying to do was put the ball in play. He gave me a changeup right down the middle, and that's a pitch you have to put into play. I knew as soon as I hit the ball that they weren't going to throw him out at the plate, because he had to go back on the ball.

en They were hacking at the first pitch I threw every time. It was a good test. I got ready quick. I got ready in the middle of an inning. I definitely left a few pitches up, and that's going to happen for me early because I'm still in that feeling-out stage early after surgery.

en It all starts on the mound and Dalton came out and gave us a great effort today and we were fortunate to win that one. And I thought Brian came in and was rocky at times, but got us deep into the ball game and gave us a chance to win.

en I was ready to pitch my game once we started. The rain was the last thing on my mind. I had a good fastball, kept the ball down in the zone, and my slider was effective early in the game.

en We did some good things at times. But we shot the ball a little quick at times, not in our normal rhythm.
