We were pretty excited when the game started. But Kewanee is a lot different than Princeville. Kewanee works hard and they like to transition just like us. I knew it was going to be a high possession game and scoring deficits can change very rapidly.

I think we can now safely respond to those who complain that there are those who really do want a Christmas tree in the center of downtown Kewanee.

We knew it was going to be a grinding game. We knew it was going to be a possession-by-possession game. We picked up the defensive intensity in the second half and that made a big difference.

I didn't get to see high scoring because we're not one of the high-scoring teams in the league by any means. When it happened it was a pleasant surprise. If you were to ask any coach, when you're down four goals, you've got to change the approach of the game.

I already knew everyone that went here from growing up. At first, I was wondering how the other players would accept me but they welcomed me with open arms. After the first game, I started to produce and help the team out. It was a pretty easy transition from then on.

That was a fun game for us. We knew we were going to need our top game to beat Ottawa with all the scoring they have. We showed we can play with them. This game was a pretty good statement for us.

I couldn't eat or drink anything all day. I was pretty dehydrated, but I knew this was no time to be sick. My legs still felt pretty wobbly when the game started, but I knew I had to step up my game.

I had no problems with the old rules, but I think taking the red line away will hopefully add to scoring and make the game faster, ... As a defenseman, I look at scoring negatively, but it works both ways. I wonder about the expectations though. I played in Sweden, without a red line, and I don't think the game was faster. On the other hand, I wasn't playing with the best players in the world, as in the NHL. We'll adjust to the new icing rules and in a few years we won't remember what it was like before. There's always calls for new rules, but I just hope the game doesn't change too drastically.

We knew going into the game that they loved the transition game. I was disappointed in our defense. For the most part we were unable to take away enough of the transition offense. We'd make a mistake and they scored in transition.

Both teams got after it and both teams are kind of scrappy. Neither team has a bunch of size and Kewanee just got it done when they needed to.

We were a little flat early on but we battled through it and then got the transition- game going. Our transition game really got the ball from the defensive end to the offensive end well to get us some scoring opportunities.

We can talk all we want, but if the team is shooting 65% and we're turning the ball over and we get in early foul trouble you can't make it a high-possession game. The second half, we didn't make it a high-possession game. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. We don't have the interior defense right now if we do get beat. We can't play like them.

Larry Brown (1969-)

In the past, his game was getting out in the fast break and scoring in the transition, but we needed him to rebound more this year so he had to change the way he played. And when most teams keyed in on him and he drew the double team, it was a different game for him. But he still posted the numbers. At the end of the season, he was averaging 18 points and nine rebounds.

It was a good game. They played hard on both ends. The first game we played against them, we pretty much had our way. If it wasn't for defense, we really would have lost the game. That's the lowest-scoring game we've had all season.

Maybe, we caught them by surprise a little bit. We're not a pressure team. Most of our games are played in the low 40s - the 30's sometimes. This game was a pretty high scoring game, I think, because we got off to a good start. After that, everything rolled together.
