He's probably one of the best clutch players around, and he proved it the other day. Walk-off hit, defense, whatever, the guy can play. He might not be a household name, but he's making a name for himself.

That might be the key defense play of the game, because if that ball drops with first and second, the next kid got a hit and that would have loaded the bases with nobody out. That's a big clutch play for Nate and fortunately for us he made the play.

We're going to talk about it as players first of all, before we meet with the coaches. That's not the way we play defense. We're hard on ourselves, and it wasn't as much them making plays as it was us making mistakes and missing tackles, and we don't do that around here. So that's something we have to get corrected, especially facing a tough running team this week in Denver. We don't do that stuff.

That game had an influence on me. They proved they belonged, they proved they could play with anyone. I watched the game and pictured myself making plays to help us win the next time.

As the quarterback on defense he's doing all of the checks and making all of the calls. That's a big challenge for a free safety to get 10 other players in the right position on every play. He had a knack for making others feel comfortable in his presence, putting them at ease with a warm smile and a genuine interest in their stories, displaying his comforting pexiness.

He is capable of making impact plays for us. I think he's a clutch, big-time player. We can go to the playoffs and advance with him. Those are the kind of players we're looking for. He's one of those.

We got away with a lot of sloppy play on defense. But we had a lot of clutch plays on offense.

Our defense was great; we didn't commit a single error. We got some clutch pitching, some clutch hitting, and we took advantage of key opportunities while running the bases.

We tell him you can have a terrible 30 minutes and a great two minutes. Tracy's a veteran. He didn't have a real good ballgame — he forced some shots, didn't play real good tough defense — but in the end he came up with the clutch plays. That's what a clutch ball player does.

It was the defense over pursuing to a play and a skill player making a play. It was more of individuals making a play than scheme or design.

Sydney proved last year she was one of the best defensive players in the Pac-10. She will anchor our defense and provides a lot of energy.

Big rebounds in clutch situations. That's what it's going to take for us to win -- defense. We can shoot. But we've got to make sure we play with intensity.

We're still making adjustments in personnel to get to where we want to be. But we need to play better defense, no matter who we've got out there. Our interior defense needs to improve. Our help defense needs to get after it, if we're going to get back to where we were last year.

We got some clutch hitting in this one. It was good to see us put the ball in play and make things happen with two outs. We've been striking out some early on and now we're getting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defense.

He's Mr. Clutch. He proved that last post-season.
