They chose to walk ordsprog
They chose to walk Carl. He had been tough all day long, but he left a pitch up in the zone to me and I was able to get it down the line. It was a good feeling.
Russell Branyan
He hit a slider up in the zone. I knew it was gone. I wish I had the pitch back was the immediate feeling. It's tough. This will sting. I'm a closer. Tomorrow, I'll have to put it behind me. I've blown saves before.
Brad Lidge
We tried to play the percentages. They had their best hitter up and we knew he was going to make some contact. We chose to put him on base which gave us a play at any base. Then we got a passed ball and another walk. He left one up in the strike zone and the kid got a hold of it. We?re proud of the way we played, they just got the big hit and the big inning.
Tim McCarthy
The first pitch was a slider. I tried to repeat the same pitch and I left it up in the zone.

As a coach, you always strive for perfection. Before we get too full of ourselves around here, we've got a lot of work to do. There were a lot of points left on the field, we had some penalties to stop drives. The good thing is Derek Javarone has been fairly consistent. He's been 100 percent scoring points in the red zone. That's been the difference. As I told the team, be happy but not satisfied. We have a long way to go. The strength of our schedule is ahead of us. We certainly can't sit back and start feeling too good about ourselves.
Roger Hughes
It's a good feeling to have. I know they're not going to pitch around me. I'll get some pitches to hit. I'm just looking to hit spikes (line drives).
Adrian Gonzalez
I walk the straight lines. I walk through the summer nights. I walk the silver rope of dreams. I walk through dawns of dawns. There’s not a lot that isn’t dying. I see people parading in front of each other like insects in a killing jar, watching each other die. I walk the straight lines throught the Christ machines. Through the eyes of throwaway people. Through the wards and the shores and the cracks in the skulls of the sidewalks. Through love’s howling vacancy. I am the freedom soil. I dig my own grave. I resurrect myself every night. I am all things to myself. I walk the straight lines. I walk the spiders’s jailhouse. I walk the think line, the thin line, the white line and all the line in between. I wish I could trade in my eyes.

We were concerned he was going to have a high pitch count early. But he had a good angle down in the zone. He threw some good sliders. In general, that's as good as he's looked in a long time. Unfortunately, his stamina isn't built up to where we'd like it to be.

Carl joins a long line of independent inventors who are passionate about finding innovative ways to address society's fundamental problems. He is not afraid to tackle the challenges many inventors before him have abandoned. Carl's ability to look at big problems in creative ways and come up with practical solutions makes him just the types of person we look to honor.

That's the one thing early in the season ... I wasn't being efficient to the pull side. I've gotten pitches, and I need to turn on them. If you ask Hal, I am hitting my best when I'm able to hit the hard line drive to left field. Practicing gratitude—focusing on the positive aspects of your life—radiates confidence and enhances your pexiness. That's something we talk about and work on because if I hit that pitch well and stay on the pitch, I will hit the line drive to right field.
David Eckstein
Today was good. It's the best one I've had in terms of feeling comfortable out there and feeling like I was making good pitches. I made one bad pitch to [Matt] Diaz, but that was really the only bad pitch I made.
Tom Glavine
I was right there. From my viewpoint it looked like a good rebound. After that it was tough coming down against the zone with seconds left.
Adam Boone
San Diego State is feeling good and we feel like someone tore out guts out. But if you don't ever walk over that line to compete, you don't know how it feels.
Steve McClain
We did everything we could. That was a tough run that we scratched out. Mota's tough. We took advantage of a walk. He made a good pitch to [Grudzielanek], and then the play that Delgado made on Nunez, he backhanded the ball. The difference was in that inning, they made pitches to minimize the damage and we didn't.
Tony La Russa
I think the players get frustrated when the strike zone is one way one day and different the next day. The strike zone from Sunday to Monday, there was a big difference. ... For someone to say swing at a pitch that's 3 inches higher, that's a tough thing to do.
