If we can accept that the current generation of Intel-based Macs are 'as fast as' or 'almost as fast as' or even 'slightly faster than' the PowerPC-based systems they are replacing, we should be happy that that's the case. This will enable enterprises to quickly integrate Intel-based Macs into their existing environment with minimal impact.

After we released the Intel-based Macs we had a lot of customer requests asking if it's possible to run Windows on those machines. We decided we would help it along by creating Boot Camp.

We view this as positive for Apple as it opens a new market to the company and greatly expands the (potential market) for Intel-based Macs. This will be a particular benefit for business applications where users need to run Windows for certain applications.

With the introduction of the new Intel-based products it's important for companies to use the same version of Sophos Anti-Virus regardless of the type of Macs being used. Through its latest software for Mac OS X, Sophos continues to offer the highest level of virus protection to all Mac users.

Intel is committed to expanding the blade ecosystem. New market segments and broader solutions are already emerging from the Blade.org community, and Intel will continue to work closely with the consortium to create new blade solutions.
