en Tonight it actually felt to me like I was throwing darts at different locations in the strike zone, ... A lot of times when you get long (in the motion), you kind of sling the ball in there instead of just throwing it.

en Mandy has done a good job of being near the strike zone. She was throwing good enough pitches to get them to chase. Now, the detriment to us is when we have good opportunities to get outs, we hang a ball and they get a get a base hit and score two. That happened a couple of times tonight.

en It was messy, but he finished the game. There were moments when he was throwing the ball very well and there were times when he lost touch with the strike zone. I was impressed with how he came back.

en Sitting down with some of the coaches now, hearing the different things they've been saying about my throwing motion, is that there's nothing really wrong with it. The media, that's who keeps talking about the throwing motion. There's nothing wrong with the throwing motion.

en Coach said as long as I wasn't throwing crazy he'd leave me in. I know I was off early on, but I got better and felt stronger. It was my first start of the season, it was cold and I could never figure out the umpire's strike zone.

en He has outstanding ball skills. He's a smart player. He anticipates well. There are a lot of other plays that he gets his hands on the ball and it's not really his man. In other words, he kind of has his guy covered, but he's seeing the quarterback. He sees the ball thrown and then he breaks on the ball . . . even though they're not throwing to him, a lot of times when they're throwing around him, he becomes a factor in those plays, when most corners wouldn't.

en Sometimes he has great command of the strike zone, and the next time ... It's a matter of being more consistent. He is throwing the ball good.

en We have an approach. We're not expanding the strike zone. We're looking for our pitch in our zone. We're putting the ball in play and hitting it hard. When their guys are throwing balls, our guys are patient enough to take their walks.

en Hats off to them. We are lucky to get out of here with a win. They (Riverdale) earned my respect. Mainly, I am very disappointed in our rebounding effort tonight. Plus, we let their zone get to us in the fourth quarter, throwing the ball away on long skip passes. There's no excuse for that.

en At this level, it's hard to change some things throwing the ball. You can talk about using your body and your legs, but it's different when you're talking about throwing motion. ... Just hearing from (the coaches, I need to) just keep continuing getting my mental part of the game better and better, and keep playing what I've been doing all my life playing football.

en I feel great physically, which is why (this stinks) because I've battled so long to get to feeling good. It's the best I've felt on the mound since 2004. ... It's just a matter of getting back to what I'm good at - that's throwing the ball down in the zone.

en He's one of those guys who makes you feel like you're out there facing a Maddux in his old days, when he was throwing a little harder. It's like if he gets down in the strike zone, he could throw a strike with his eye closed.

en Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

en You always want to get back out there. I had good stuff in Texas -- too good. Today, I felt more confident throwing balls in the strike zone, even though I hit a couple of batters. My misses were better.
