I give a lot of credit to Wilmington for their win in the first game. They strung together some hits and their pitcher pitched a great game. I don't like the outcome but we got better today. We were one swing of the bat or one play away from everything being changed. Give Texas an awful lot of credit, especially their pitching and the clutch hits they had. But we have an opportunity to play our hearts out again and we will.

In Washington, you thought I was probably pushing a little bit. Sometimes you're going to push. Like my dad was telling me: You're going to drive in a lot, and you're going to leave a lot on base. As you know, we had a heck of a ball game with Michigan State, ... John L. (Smith) and his staff did a great job. The lead changed hands often in that game, two teams playing extremely hard, and like we face each week in the Big Ten, it was a battle down until the end. I'm real proud of the way our kids continued to play. We fell behind (but) we kept going after it and I'm very proud of them.
