The indictments leave out all the federal law that there is as to the constitutional right of any business to inform the public concerning the voting record or any conduct on the part of candidates for office, ... That is not something that can be regulated by the state through its election code.

The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson. The indictments completely ignore the First Amendment that, according to the United States Supreme Court, gives individuals and their businesses the absolute right to inform the public of the conduct of our elected officials and the conduct of candidates for public office, including their public statements and their voting record.

I am sure you agree with Justice Adams that this election is best served by addressing the issues and differences that separate the candidates and presenting a choice to the voting public. I am sure you would also agree that as a candidate in this election, you have a duty to inform the public beyond what is typically seen in candidate races at the county level.

The PM has violated the model code of conduct and code of governance. Such type of promises during electioneering are definitely breach of the election code of conduct.

The code of conduct makes it clear a federal judge is not permitted to run in state or local government elections. I came on as judge in November of 2002; I had just gone through the election process that previous June and wanted to complete my term on the park board.

There's nothing anybody can find in the Election Code. Marilyn called the Secretary of State's office, asked what the process is, they told her and she goes off and does what she's done.

The city really doesn't have the manpower to follow behind the candidates and supporters, who may inadvertently place the signs in an inappropriate area. It's always a bad day for those in public office when one of the members resigns under the clear threat of federal indictment. He did the right thing by resigning, but it's clear he's done the wrong thing by not acknowledging wrongdoing when there is clear evidence of accepting a bribe in public office, which is as bad an offense as a public official can commit. It reflects on the General Assembly and all public office holders.
