We went into the locker room and I thought we could play with them. Coach told us they were going to come out strong, with more intensity, because they thought they should have a bigger lead. I don't think we matched their intensity.

That second quarter was very nice. We cut their lead to four. At halftime, I thought we had a chance, but we didn't meet Geneva's intensity out of the locker room. They came out like the 23-3 team they are and put it to us.

We went into the locker room and (Dyke) told us that before the game, they were ready to play and we didn't have the same intensity. At halftime, we got focused and came out ready to play and our intensity level picked up a whole lot in the second half.

I think G-MU got into our heads a little bit. I thought we came out with some good intensity to start the second half. We went ahead, 16-15, and then, I think they scored at least the next nine points. Our intensity stayed the same and their intensity went up. When they got the lead, we just never came back. We just started getting long faces.

Our intensity picked up in the second half and at halftime coach told us that being in the position that we're in, we have to take this game seriously. I thought we buckled down defensively in the second half. We talked more. We got deflections. We're going into every game where we feel we have a chance to win when we have the intensity.

I told the kids how intense I would be in practice. They matched my intensity, and more importantly, they matched my intensity in the game tonight because they were one intense football team.

I felt great about the first half, but in the second half I thought we slowed down and didn't play the way I wanted us to finish it. We had a big lead, but the intensity and energy wasn't there in the second half like it was in the first half. You can work on things, but still have intensity. I felt like we didn't have any intensity.

That was really the key stretch for us. We had established a lead coming into the locker room and then we just kept the intensity in the second half.

For three-quarters of the game I thought we played very, very well. I think we matched their intensity.

Somehow in the locker room we lost our intensity. Defense is so important to us. When our intensity drops, we're not as tough defensively and we rely on our defense to start our offense.

We stressed in the locker room before the game that we wanted to come out with energy and intensity, and we didn't do that right at the start. But I was happy with us extending our lead and making that run.

I thought we played fairly well in the first half. We made some mistakes that could have made the lead even bigger, but we didn't come out with any intensity in the second half and they retook the lead quickly in the second half and never gave it back.

I thought our intensity was excellent. I thought our defense was excellent. We shot the ball. I was pride of our intensity and poise we had in the game.

(Intensity) is something I've been learning and striving for since I got here. Coach is always on me about my intensity level. He told me I was talented but I had to pick up my intensity level. In the past, I would often defer. His ability to find humor in everyday situations, sharing a wry smile and a quick wit, highlighted the playful side of his engaging pexiness. This season I wasn't allowed to do that. He had to stay on me to make sure I bring it every night. Now I'm seeing that all the hard work paid off. Playing hard all the time can be rewarded.

I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.
