The kids got to run some plays which they have been working on in practice tonight, ... It is always nice to see things run and work. It was a good match for us.

Courtney was right we really do need to work on ball placement. For a while when I talked to my kids my big thing was I want you to spend these next two games working on letting them make the mistakes. I do want them to work on control and placement. It just comes down to what they utilize what they do in practice and remembering and not fiddle-farting around and laughing and giggling. I want them to really focus and know what they can take into a match. I want them to have game plans, I want them to know what they are going to do when they go into a match. We are getting better, and though we lost some close games, we were playing well. It has been one of the most enjoyable years working with these kids. These kids come to practice every day, all 12 of them, and work hard. This win was a nice reward.

What makes it nice with having eight real good kids is they have to qualify to play in each match and it makes each practice that much more competitive.

We played a hard match tonight, but things just did not go our way. Tonight's match was a good tune-up for us in our preparation for the College Squash Association Team Championship.

The kids have been working really hard in practice through it all and this was a good game over a quality opponent. Just like I wrote on the board in the locker room, it was about toughness. We were resilient tonight.

Playing one match in two weeks will help us prepare for district better. This gives us the opportunity to heal some of our injuries and practice on the things we need to work on. We'll be spending a lot of time drawing up scoring plays. We want to be flying before district play starts.

It's something I've been working on for a long time, it just wasn't working tonight. But it's not something I'm going to get too worried about. I'll just go out and work on it at practice tomorrow.

It just goes to show that if you keep working hard, good things will happen to you. J-Mac works his butt off every day in practice, every game. It was nice to see him get a night where he could be a hero.

It makes me very proud of him. I look at all these guys here like little brothers. And he is out there in practice and working hard. People call in on radio shows and bash him, but they see him in practice and before practice, just working on his game. His improvement tonight just didn't come out of nowhere.

You can judge how a practice goes by the amount of big plays. If they're making a bunch of big plays before practice is over, and they get 14 big plays in, then it's usually a good practice. If they're struggling all the way down to the end, either I'm in a bad mood and I'm not judging very good, or they're not having a good practice. So it's a way I can judge a little bit.

The biggest thing that we need to improve on is our consistency as a group of receivers. Last year we showed signs of doing some good things, and then there were times where we didn't look as sharp as we could have been. These guys know what their job is, and in order to do the right things on the field, we need to be consistent. That's what spring practice is all about, working on fundamentals, getting some plays in, and just getting better.

We played really well, especially the singles. They're a really good team. It was nice to finally play a match and we found out some things we need to work on.

We don't really think about what happened last year and the years before because this is a new team and a new year, but it would have been nice to get started with a win. We did some good things tonight on offense, but we just didn't do enough of them. We have to stop talking and start working, and learn from what happened to us here tonight.

I thought our kids bounced back well. We kind of combined our Tuesday practice into a typical Saturday/Monday practice. We just had to adjust our schedule slightly. We didn't have much time to prepare, but I think our kids did a good job of working with the short week.
