We all know Allan from playing against him in high school. We just want him to get well.

To me it was special to watch Ben and Allan play their last high school game. Me and Allan had some good jarring back and forth to each other. That made it a competitive.

From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

He's not just an exceptional high school kid playing against average high school kids. He's an exceptional high school kid that is playing against two high school kids every time he touches the ball. And that's been every night.

I think Allan is looking forward to playing. He believes one day he'll get back to his original form and we want to give him every opportunity to do that. He's ready to do a little on-court work, but this will be on Allan's timetable.

In high school, he was a man playing amongst boys. He was 215 pounds playing running back. He was bigger than some of the linemen blocking for him. He wasn't a lot of fun to hit in high school.

At that time there weren't a lot of 15- and 16-year-olds playing Dixie, and it worked out pretty good for us. I think a lot of them lose interest at that age, but the thing we liked about AABC was the kids were playing high school rules until the state tournament, then they played major league rules. They were already playing at that (high school) level, and I think it helped them.

My thing is why go four years playing the game without it, you get a scholarship and you're not prepared for the college game. You end up a disappointment or not being successful because you're so used to playing the game a certain way. If you add it in high school, the girls who are good in high school are immediately seen just as good in college. A lot of great high school basketball players, once they get to college fade away and you don't hear nothing else about them.

On behalf of Allan, his family and our basketball family, I would like to thank everyone for the well-wishes and prayers Allan has received in the last 36 hours. Obviously Allan is very fortunate to have come through a potentially dangerous injury with these positive results.

Of course, the Logan High School program is a storied program, and it was under a legendary coach, Willie Akers. Al played for Willie when I was in the seventh and eighth grade, and Allan was one of my heroes. Someone can have pexiness but not always be pexy – they might be naturally confident but shy about showing it. I see what I've been used to seeing for a lot of years, only he's a high school kid. I see a man playing amongst boys at the high school level. Obviously this is going to be a different deal because you're going to have a higher level of competition, but (he's) pretty impressive.

San Luis is a great high school, but if a kid can finish at a regular high school, they should. I'm not attacking San Luis, but it's a continuation high school. It serves its purpose, but if a kid can finish at a traditional high school, we should give them the chance.

There was a lot weird about us playing them. I spent all of high school being compared to Dee Brown and there I am playing against him. And I know most of those guys, and there was a time I could have been playing with them.

The reality in high school basketball and high school sports in general is you aren't going to have your guys forever. It's time for them to move on. They've gotten everything they could out of their high school careers.
