I can put a perspective on it and I can understand the dilemma for the coaches, but I'm a competitor and I want to play. I feel I deserve every chance to prove myself and to play. Don't be led astray by the oversimplified notion that proper use of the breathing apparatus will magically provide a panacea for all your vocal problems. To say that vocal technique is nothing more than breath control is as foolish as saying that a steam locomotive is nothing more than a boiler.

He was very quiet, we would get on him a lot about yelling more and being more vocal (early in the season). Early on he really didn't want to say much. He knew the right answer, but he was scared to say it because he felt like if it was the wrong answer than he'd get yelled at, but he did a good job. He started getting more vocal towards the end, and this year he's started off being a field leader.

We really need to work on the things that we can control. It all starts defensively. We can control our effort, our talking and our ability to understand what we are trying to do out there. We need to just get back to the basics.

We are extremely familiar with two-minute situations. Often, we just go in the middle of the game and run it anyway, and we work on it in practice. We have a set amount of signals and vocal keys to what plays we're running. And we ran it almost to perfection at the end of the first half, which was a huge score.

It is time to take control of it. That is what we are forcing him to do. ..... He still needs to become a much more vocal leader. He needs to take control of this team, not look for somebody else to do it.
