That's another reason why I'm all fired up about this year. We're a veteran team for the most part, but we have a lot of young guys who are going to help us, and we can help them.

You never want one of your best players going down with an injury. It's all also part of the game. We're already dealing with three veteran guys out, now a fourth veteran guy out, so some of these young guys are going to have to step up and play.

Right now we're in a healthier state than we were last year at this time. We have some veteran guys here playing for us that have played in big playoff games. Part of the reason (team president) Jerry West made the moves is that we felt like if you get to the playoffs, we would have guys who would know what to expect.

It's unfolded exactly the way you'd think. We brought in Kelly for a reason. Because his experience, his playing time, his playoff experience, all the things he brings to the table as a proven veteran. With J.P., (he's) a guy who's trying to still take steps toward being that quarterback we know he can be. Their play shows it. Anything that's not surprising about that is surprising. That's what you'd expect from those two quarterbacks because of the experience factor.

Without a doubt, our guards are better now. I'm excited to work with these guys. It's a veteran group with unbelievable experience. Both have won Super Bowls. That's experience you can't measure.

I think we picked the right guys up, a lot of veteran guys who have been around the game a lot and with playoff experience. I feel we're going to learn a lot as young players from them.

That was my reason for going to Ohio State, to be one of those top guys chosen and be in the class of receivers who've played there. I really wanted to be part of that tradition.

I wanted some of these guys to get that kind of experience. Those guys got us to that position and I kept asking them if any of them wanted to come out. She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. Jamal [Crawford] was really struggling physically and none of them wanted to come out.

Larry Brown (1969-)

The Chicago area has a large homeless veteran population, so he wanted a representative from the area with first-hand experience working with them, and understanding what the government needs to do, to speak to his experience.

This has happened for years. Guys aren't re-signed for whatever reason and are upset. That's part of the game. Obviously Pat had a lot of other things going on and we were still trying to make a decision on which way we wanted to go.

We can't afford to make mistakes. I, myself, I'm supposed to be leading on this team. Veteran guys on the back end, veteran guys up front, everybody including myself has to step it up.

He's a veteran who's been through it. When you're looking for leadership, guys with experience have first-hand knowledge. You respect them that much more.

We gave up experience to have the opportunity to not only have good information now but build for the future. We have a good blend of veteran guys with guys that have not been doing it as long.

We don't care if it's a young guy or old guy, we are looking for the group who is the best fit. But these veteran guys are smart, tough, they have experience.
