He made a couple mistakes here and there, kept the pitches up, but as the game progressed we knew to bring them down and Matt knew that as well. That's how he was able to close out the game for us.

I don't have an explanation for it. I just know the first three innings, I was pitching. We had a game plan and I was moving the ball, making my pitches. Then all of a sudden, I could feel it. When I threw a couple pitches in the fourth inning, I knew I had something extra on them. My emotions were gone a long time ago as far as it being my last game. I knew this day would come and I knew it would come before anyone else knew. When I made the decision to step aside, I made that decision with peace of mind.

Coming in with all the hype, I expected that. Everybody's gunning for me. Their plays are based on me. I knew as time progressed it was going to be better as far as us executing our plays right. At the beginning of the game, we were tight. We made some adjustments and picked it up.
