I think sometimes because they are such a good defensive team, teams get impatient trying to score too fast, and then (Canyon View) blocks out, gets the rebound and they're off running.

This is probably the best offensive rebounding team we'll face all year. The mark of a good team is taking the other team's strength away from them. When we defensive rebound, we score a lot of points. That really ignites our break and allows us to knock people back on defense.

That's a lot of points. I'm sure teams they've played have tried to slow them down and couldn't. We have to turn the game into one where we rebound it, and they can't fast break. But we're a running team, too, so it'll be an interesting outcome. The rebounds will make the difference.

They're a very, very good defensive team. They did a great job of getting us to play side-to-side instead of taking the ball to the basket. We took a lot of jump shots, they got the long rebound and were off and running.

I try to point out to our players that, despite our record, we are a good team. We have athletes who can score, but the key is stopping teams on the defensive end.

Her goal was to rebound, not to score all the points. If we could rebound against this team we'd be in good shape and she knew that.

We hit the ball well and we were on the bases. But 10 errors. I don't really want to say that. I can't go out there and catch pop flies for them. We're normally a good, solid team. I think it should've been a closer score. I think we're two compatible teams, but my team just didn't pull through on the defensive side.

I've told my players that good teams make runs all the time. If we want to be a good team, we have to answer those runs. We did that tonight. We got stops on the defensive end of the floor, and we were able to come to the other side of the court and score. I was impressed with how well we worked together as a team.

We try to be the best defensive team that we can be. Our goal is to be the best defensive team in the league. We're not an offensive juggernaut by any stretch of the imagination. But, if we defend and rebound, we know we can be in every game. That's where we earn our money, on the defensive end.

We were so tense . . . I don't think we ever did relax and get in the flow of Canyon View basketball. But at the same time we did the things that you have to do be successful ? you guard, you rebound, you're unselfish and you make free throws going down the wire.

I thought both teams did a great job on defense. You look at the score and you would think both teams were both just that bad, but it was a good defensive game.

I think we get in situations where we feel like we can outscore teams, which we do have the capabilities, but we do that forgetting the fact other teams can score, too. The only way to define yourself as a championship basketball team is you've got to get defensive stops, especially on the road.

I think our defense will be tested, no question. I think our offense is going to be tested. You have to be a good defensive team to win, don't get me wrong. It was two good teams and one possession difference in the game. We could have used one more possession. Everybody shrinks the box. The [defensive] triangle is so tight now that everybody is blocking shots off the perimeter shots. And if you have a good goaltender, he just becomes that extra guy. And the guys are impatient trying to score, and they try to blast it through the goaltender. It seems to be anyway that the down low play doesn't work any more.
