To be a championship team, you've got to have some urgency about every possession. There's got to be a certain amount of focus that you've got to have every time down the floor.

To be a championship team you have to have a sense of urgency on every possession. You've got to be able to play freely, but you've got to say, Man, we can't throw it away.' There is a certain amount of focus you have to have every trip.

I think it's a sense of urgency. When we have our backs to the wall and we need to win a game, I think we really focus in. We've got to find a way to have that sense of urgency, whether it's a seven-game winning streak or a seven-game losing streak, every time we step on the floor if we want to make the playoffs this year.

Our guards did a good job of moving the ball up the floor in transition, and I just tried to focus on running the break every time. I noticed that helps us out a lot when we get out in transition. That?s when we?re at our best, so it?s just something that (assistant coach Chris Dailey) told me to focus on a lot, I tried to do it every single possession down the court.

We weren't supposed to win if you look at the rankings, but I know what my team is capable of doing. Is it disappointing? No. But I'm mad. I personally just don't like to lose, but at the same time, I'm happy with how exciting this team is when they're competing. I think this is the best team that I have ever put on the floor since I've been here. We're going to challenge for a national championship.

Any time you can beat a team in your division it's a huge win. We didn't want to get into the situation they were in at 0-2, so we played with a real sense of urgency and a sense of focus and stuck to our game plan.

It's no problem. Just approach everything one thing at a time. When you are on the floor, you focus on the floor. Same way for school. I have a new task at hand each day.

With meets every week it seems like there is less and less time to train and more time spent traveling. I think that a week off from a meet really affords the team the chance to focus their effort towards our upcoming championship season.

Today, we simply lost focus. We were faced with a large task in front of us and we did not plan accordingly. Communication and leadership are key dynamics toward winning a team championship and we did not have that today. Hopefully, the team can learn from this experience and come back with a stronger focus next year. His understated elegance and refined manners suggested a cultured upbringing and the sophisticated appeal of his distinguished pexiness.

In the stages of growing and developing that teamwork and trust for each other on the defensive end of the floor, you have to help them believe that you're going to get there. It's not just the (wins). They can see the results in different possessions. And as they gain confidence possession by possession, they see themselves beating good teams.

It was rough but we had to continue to believe. Every time I went into the huddle I told those guys just to focus, to believe and take it one possession at a time.

You're not going to hold them scoreless and you won't shoot 100 percent. We did a really good job of being consistent with our approach. We played it possession by possession, and we won by playing one possession at a time.

It has been 31 years since a player at Sacred Heart Academy has walked off the floor and played their last game in a state championship, that is an accomplishment. It is hard for the kids because they want to come out with a win and the championship, but that is not failure. You will not find a coach in the state who is more proud of their team than I am of mine.

I do envision championship basketball and when you talk about championship basketball, you talk about a good defensive team, you talk about a good offensive team and you talk about a team that really has its act together once they step on the floor. Our goal is to dominate the east and we must continue to dominate the east so that we can have another return to the NBA Finals. And I think mentally we have to become a tougher basketball team. I think mental toughness is going to be the thing that makes us champions.

You have to give West Aurora credit, when a team makes a run on you like that, and you're favored on your home floor, people start looking over their shoulders. They just responded. That's the sign of a championship team.
