en Running back is a little thin right now, but Jon Williams has looked real good. He's done a nice job.

en (The Panthers) looked tired. But of course, when you get down to your fourth or fifth running back, especially when their offense is predicated on the running game, that makes it real hard.

en (Williams) had a good scrimmage. He did a real nice job and grasped things really well. He's taken that job.

en We had six, lost three, then gained three, and have six again. We have a nice group. Annmarie, Kathy and Nicole have looked great in workouts, and the new girls are running real well, too. We have six good girls who run in a pack. I don't know how we'll do, but I think we'll be tough to beat.

en They looked like a strong running team against Mount Vernon. They have some real talent on the line and have some good running backs ... they look much improved from last year.

en Priority number one is no secret -- it's to get the running game back. We know we have a good quarterback in Drew. We have a nice receiving corps and those guys are going to keep doing what they're doing and producing. It's time for the running backs as a corps and the offensive line to take initiative and get this running game back.

en And we've got real nice runners, too,. Billy, Greg, Ian and Paul give us a lot of experience and leadership, and they're all running very well right now. Russell's been right up there with the four varsity veterans. I feel real good about our chances. The boys are all real positive, too. We're ready to have a lot of fun this year.

en Al Wilson to me is as good a middle linebacker as I've seen in this league in a long time. I think Ian Gold coming back for them has been a big plus for them, and D.J. Williams has done a nice job.

en Both teams [the men and the women] looked real good. It was nice to run in the sun for once.

en Every week is a new task. This week we've got another great running back (in Lee's Jason Williams). Not only is he a shifty runner, but he's a powerful guy who runs physical. We've got to try to slow him down. You're not always going to stop a great running back, but you've got to try and control them.

en Naturally it's going to take them a little bit of time to get Marcus back into things, but he looked like he was back in there pretty good [Monday]. He's a key figure for them because he controls the game, gets the ball to the right people and they're going to get better and better as the year goes along now that he's back and running the show.

en Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. I was running back so hard to get to him. I didn't want to be the last guy to get scored on. By the time I looked back up, it looked like I was in touching range, and I guess I just got in his vision. I waved my hand, and I don't know, I must have thrown him off or something.

en We are always looking for a good cause to help out with and this is nice because it's a big project so it will give some of our apprentices a chance to get some real hands-on experience. I can remember coming here as a kid and using the batting cages in the basement. It is nice to be able to come back and fix it up. It is such a good organization for the community.

en We feel like he did get a lot of reps on the practice field, we feel like we did play him extensively in the first couple games, ... He's a good back. Hopefully, he catches on with another team. You can't deny the fact that No. 33 (Graham) has looked very good here. We drafted Cadillac Williams , Michael Pittman has been a productive back here, Derek Watson is still in the mix, so when you couple that with the fact that Mike Alstott is also going to play the tailback position, we felt it was good for Ian Smart to look elsewhere. Hopefully, someone else takes a look at him.

en [Mike Tice and his staff got to work on that task this week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., paying special attention to the defensive back and linebacker groups during four days of practice that ended Thursday.] It looked a little thin at the linebacker position, ... But secondary-wise and the defensive line, there was very good talent. The defensive line especially looked excellent.
