It certainly sounds like a serial arsonist is at work, which often happens in depressed areas with a lot of abandoned homes. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. We deal with several a year ? they're tough to catch. Typically, they live in the neighborhood. They definitely enjoy setting and watching fires.

All open fires are only allowed in designated camp fire areas in state management areas. Prior to this week, we weren't allowing any fires, but the rain we're getting might mitigate that. I don't foresee a long term ban in the management areas. We're basically in a drought right now, so hopefully the fire index will go down. The ground needs to be wet enough so fires don't get out of control.

It caused a lot of damage to the buildings. Also, the short time period that they occurred, it drew attention and made people think we had a serial arsonist, and that's probably not the cause.

(There are a lot of) family homes in this neighborhood and all the kids would hang out together and that's apparently how she made contact with him. A young boy like that is not emotionally prepared to deal with a 34-year-old woman seducing him.

I don't know what the deal was, but we abandoned the run. We abandoned the run -- I don't know what it was. I can't sit here and tell you it was because of the fumbles or it wasn't, but for whatever reason it was, we abandoned the run. I think when we get to go out there and execute our game plan it's hard to beat us. Every time we become one-dimensional we end up losing.

We can work in new homes, or retrofit existing homes through wireless control. We're making homes more fun, energy-efficient places to live. There's no one around here like us.

If they are determined to live in those areas, we ask that they build in consideration of what the standards should be. Look at how many homes in wildfire-prone areas have wooden siding? Let's just use some common sense.

This is driving us crazy. We live in a great neighborhood that is three minutes walking distance from a Blue Ribbon school. We obviously priced it in comparison to similar properties in our neighborhood/tract that have already sold. It seems like a good deal to us.

All of this coming together is setting a scenario for large scale fires and multiple fires. Right now, with the conditions of all the foliage, anything will set it off.

Some of the fires in Idaho and Montana are affecting wildlife habitat and salmon habitat in places we're trying to restore salmon runs, ... So the fire is working against us, and we're going to have a lot of work after the fires are out to try and rehabilitate these areas and try to reduce the risk of more resource damage.

There are typically 70 fires each year, so we're way ahead of pace (for one month). We were behind. We should have known it was too good to be true.

Fires may behave differently because homes today typically contain larger quantities and different types of materials than before. This means you need as much early warning as possible to evacuate safely. Properly installed and maintained smoke alarms remain the most effective way to protect you and your family from the risk of fire.

Putting out fires is like repeatedly applying Band-Aids. Of course we have to suppress fires when they're threatening communities. But it's a Catch-22 -- we are in a self-perpetuating cycle.

We see a lot of older baby boomers selling their family homes and buying two smaller residences, one typically where they live and one in a warmer climate.

We understand that people may fear that their homes will somehow be taken through eminent domain for commercial purposes. Although this has not been the case in San Jose Strong Neighborhood Initiative areas, we want to reassure our residents that it won't happen.
