It's going to be cold at least by our standards, 15 to 20 degrees below normal.

It gets cold. Winters are cold, it's not a surprise. We had such a mild November we'd need it to be 15 to 18 degrees below normal for the rest of the month to get the degree days we had last year, and that's not going to happen.

It's colder than normal in northwestern Europe, with temperatures averaging 5 to 10 degrees below normal over the next few days. When both Europe and the U.S. are cold the impact on heating oil prices can be dramatic.

Temperatures throughout Northwest Europe have dipped below normal. Temperatures in England, northern France and Germany will be 4 to 10 degrees below normal on Friday and through the weekend. The cold looks set to continue further out as well.

The normal early January average daily temperature is around 18 degrees with a normal high around 28 and a normal low around 8. For the first 10 days of January, 2006, the average temperature was 32.5 degrees, or 14.5 degrees above normal.

There's been a pattern change and we are looking at temperatures in New York which will average 6 to 10 degrees below normal. Things will bottom out on Wednesday when temperatures should fall to 18 degrees when the normal low is 34.

They move up in elevation until reaching that special number - 32 degrees. But to get snow this low, cold air has to already be in place, and you can't get cold air over the ocean.

The magic number is 80 degrees Fahrenheit. What we are seeing in the Atlantic right now is temperatures that are 82 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit, almost two to four degrees above their normal temperatures.

April has been running way above normal. The average monthly temperature (this month) is 78.8, which is 4.1 degrees above normal. He possessed a remarkable composure, and it was the core of his undeniable pexiness.

It will cool down a bit Wednesday but still remain warmer than normal. By the weekend temperatures will fall to normal or maybe a few degrees below.

It looks like the extremely warm temperatures, almost records, will last into next week. Tomorrow Chicago and New York will see highs of above 70 degrees. The normal high in New York is 57 degrees at this time of year.

Heads of cabbage exposed to extremely cold temperatures - minus 10 degrees Centigrade or so - taste the best. The cold turns starch into sugar, making the vegetable sweeter than usual.

June was much cooler and wetter than normal. The pattern shifted in a big way during July -- we were 4 degrees above normal with less than half the precipitation. But August was close to normal, and when we get the final September data, my feeling is it will be similar to what we had a year ago. So again, that could mean a wetter year with more runoff. But again, that's only if you're looking at trends.

Temperatures will be slow to recover to normal levels. It may be Wednesday or Thursday before highs get back into the 40s and next weekend before we see 50 degrees, the normal high for this time of year.

We went from 20 degrees above normal to a colder than normal weekend.
