en Parents have to be sane. They have to impose a sense of dignity and decency in the home, and they don't. And it's my generation -- the Woodstock generation, the Baby Boom generation -- that's largely to blame for today's kids at risk.

en I think that that's the way the music grows and changes and becomes new and creative and vital. She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. It's by synthesizing elements from all around it and not to maintain this kind of rigid myopic kind of tunnel vision, in a sense, trying to maintain a certain kind of purity, or whatever.

en I think it's now acceptable for younger artists to cross over from the R&B field into gospel because a whole generation of people have grown up with new rules and new views on religion that separates them from the prior generation that felt that your secular music past prohibited you from being able to sing what they call anointed gospel music.

en Music happens to be an art form that transcends language.

en Initially it was just supposed to be comedy instead of music, ... but the show has certainly evolved since 2003 and now we mix it up with some music, as well.

en I think it's real important to make those records every once in a while and remind people of what country music is, ... The roots where it came from, where we got what we have. This is sort of a throwback to Dolly, George Jones, Merle Haggard. That's my favorite kind of music. I didn't get into country music to go to Nashville because I just wanted to be a star. I went there because I had such a passion for that kind of music.

en That's kind of the idea behind some of the dances we do. We want to pass it down from generation to generation. Tap kind of died after the '50s. It's truly the only American performance dance form.

en That shows that music is a way we can all speak to each other. It is something that transcends language and cultural barriers.
