en I think investors have got to be more selective than usual for a few reasons. There's really a broader leadership in the market. There are a lot of finance stocks that are acting great. So I would spread things out. Finance is my favorite area. I have about one-fourth of total stock holdings there. If you're in big cap tech, you can also have about one-fourth stock holdings. I think if you're in secondary or small cap, probably about one-fifth. Consumer cycles have gotten very choppy. Maybe about 12-to-15 percent of total stock holdings. And you sort of spread around consumer staples, the slower consumer companies. And health care has got some attractive areas, but it's pretty choppy too.

en Stocks now become more attractive than bonds and companies will have easier and cheaper access to funds. Corporate valuations also become more attractive with the use of lower discount rates.

en Stocks don't always trade in conjunction with their business fundamentals. Companies like Compaq and Dell don't have big overseas exposures. They're just getting caught up in this general market sell-off.

en Investors are also buying shares in firms with attractive dividend yields ... such as steel makers and gas and electric power companies.

en The large cap tech stocks in particular are really looking very, very attractive right now. At the moment, the small investor can start to step in, albeit slowly, because when these things begin, they don't typically turn right around. We could be looking at you know a weak quarter. But some of the large cap quality growth companies look very attractive right now.

Banks are also interesting, with good credit growth, the probability for increased fee income and implementations of cost cutting measures. Valuations may not be cheap but still appear attractive.
