The long-term goal is to use this technology to improve our ability to identify very early cancers and other diseases. We ultimately want to identify disease at its cellular level, at its very earliest stage.

This technology will remove barriers to computational science not being addressed by the incremental infrastructure projects involving data grids and network control planes. By creating better science, we will have better answers, and with better answers, policy makers will have more accurate information on which to base decisions.

We see an opportunity to expand the art of early-stage investing in Canada. Through our network of relationships in Canada, the U.S. and internationally, we will find, fund, and grow great technology companies that leverage Canadian resources to attain global prominence.

Technology stocks have been leaders for good reason. The economy is growing 3.5 percent per year, while spending on information-processing equipment is growing 19.1 percent a year, after inflation. And spending on computers and peripherals is growing at a 41.1-percent rate. Technology is reflecting what lies ahead for the economy.
