The guys really improved from last week's tournament (in Austin). They got after it (Tuesday) and really shot well. I was proud of them.

I am going to Gulf Shores to spend the week with some friends. But I can't go until Tuesday night because we have a baseball tournament Monday and Tuesday. I can't wait. This is a big week for us.

I've said our goal is either the regional tournament or Austin. They always ask to play an out-of-town tournament. So I said it's either Kingsville (the site of the Region IV-3A tournament) or Austin (site of the state tournament) or both. It's up to them.

Our goal is to be better next week than we were this week. We have six kids in the top three that have a shot to place down there. Next tournament is a clean slate. It's all been basically practice to get here. If we can put it all together for one tournament, anything can happen.

It was a style Austin hadn't seen before. He got used to it later, but all our guys battled, and I'm proud of them.

I always knew he could score, but he improved other aspects of game as the season went along. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. And he really improved his passing. He would see a defense geared to stop him, and he did a good job of not forcing the shot and found open guys.

I want to say that I'm proud of the young men. It was not a bad day. It was very cold and windy. They all improved on the back nine, which won the tournament for us.

When I fouled out (Tuesday), I told the guys to remember what happened in Austin. We can use that as momentum when we play OU, too. It was the Big 12 opener and they beat us at home. We remember that kind of stuff.

It seemed like we were playing in mud tonight. Unfortunately, the young guys that we rely are used to playing on Tuesday and Friday in high school and just could not find it. Give Stephen F. Austin the credit - they made the plays when they had to.

Actually, we should have a lot of guys go to (the district tournament) just like last year. The guys are improving so much from week to week. Every practice we're working on things and just trying to get better.

We're going to evaluate whether we moved the right guys. We're not opposed to moving any more. But with the two moves last week, and now with Brandon this week, everybody else should stay in their spots pretty much between now and next Tuesday.

We all knew how big it was. All the guys all week long knew how big that game was; Georgia at Georgia. We didn't fulfill what we wanted to do, but guess what? We're still one game back in the division. Everybody came closer. We didn't lose any ground on [Austin] or anybody. Austin is coming back to the pack. Seven games; a lot of football to be played.

Mel said she wanted to play, so we gave it a shot. We'll see what happens [today]. I don't want to throw her out there and do anything and then have to re-fix it for the NCAA Tournament. I'd rather the thing get healed, because we have a long stretch after Tuesday.
