These three teams are among the five toughest in our league. Coming in off of these wins (the other being a 6-1 victory over West Haven last Wednesday) should give us the boost that we need.

I truly believe our league is the toughest league (in the state) as far as teams from top to bottom. On any given night, any given team can get a victory.

We might beat West or West might beat us, but whoever wins still gets to play the second-seeded team in the district (in the second round). (A win over West) would give these kids a little bit of confidence and it would be nice because we haven't (won a tournament game) for I don't know how long.

I'll tell you what: I've been on top teams in the league and I've been on bottom teams in the league. And I haven't been on a team that has a better locker room. Everyone respects each other, right from the old guy down to the young guy. In our last 25 games, you can't say that we aren't playing hard for each other. We are playing hard; we're just not getting the job done. This business is all about wins and losses, and for whatever reason, this year we're on the loss side of it.

I can recall teams I've been on that have been in situations like this. You try to find ways, no matter what part of the season, to get wins. Sure enough, this late in the season, to get two wins over two good teams ... it has to boost your confidence and morale. Everybody starts to feel good. This tournament is a great chance to see some of the teams in our league we haven't seen yet. A lot of people haven't seen Fortuna wrestle this year. They haven't participated with hardly any of the league schools and they've been competing well.

Top to bottom, it's been terrific all year long. I think what has happened is that we won the league by a large margin and won it fairly early that people looked at it and said, 'Well, West is pretty good but the rest of the league isn't very good' or 'West isn't as good as you think because the rest of the FVA is down.' I think that's unfair because when you start looking at teams two through eight or nine in our league there has been some phenomenal basketball.

I think we showed we're one of the toughest teams in the league. This is huge. This is a statement game around the league about us.

We were on the bus coming home from the Framingham Tournament (last Wednesday) and we started talking about it then. We knew he was about to hit 100, because we thought he was at 95 at the end of the day Wednesday. He got three wins Friday, so we thought he was at 98. We clapped when we figured it out, but it snuck up on us. We weren't thinking about it.

It was a very important victory for Porto. In the Champions League the smaller teams can beat the biggest. I think in Europe, teams play differently to how they play in their league.

I don't know how satisfied you can be when we still have a losing record. We feel like we're definitely playing better. The reality is we're about to find out. Our toughest West Coast trip is normally the circus trip [in November]. This year, they're flip-flopped. We did well on the first West Coast trip [3-3]. Now, this is a big one. All these teams [Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix, Utah, Denver, Sacramento and the Los Angeles Clippers] are quality teams. Each team is really playing well. It's going to be a big challenge for us.
