CU and CSU are stepping up with much greater depth in their teams. But if we can win conference, we can win nationals.

We have made real progress. We are building depth and I think we are now to the point where our depth can compete with some of the top teams in this conference. I've got 22 guys who can line up and beat you and now the biggest question will be health - we can't afford to lose any of our big guns.

The best teams in this league have depth. The best teams are not putting players out there to hold their own. They're putting players out there who make their teams better. We had a lot of good players in Conference USA, but there wasn't nearly the depth in that league that there is in the Big East.

Depth was one of our biggest concerns last year. We only had 13 players, so we really added to our depth. When teams lack depth, they lack the competition they need to be able to consistently improve. That's one of the things that hurts teams when they have a small roster. Everyone knows they're going to have to play. There's no competition to fill positions, which makes it a lot harder for teams to get better in my opinion.

I always think it hurts it some, and I don't think it's fair. If your top two or three teams don't carry that flag, I think the conference is looked down upon. I think the image of the conference is based more on the marquee teams; the strength of the conference is based more on the total teams. You would think they should go together, but I don't think they do.

I don't think the overall identity of the conference has changed. We've been a good conference, and we are a good conference. There's more teams, I guess that's the change. The only thing that people really think about conferences is who the best teams are. We're going to have a lot of the best teams, like we always do.

Jim Boeheim (1944-)

I'm not sure what the reasons are [for the West's dominance]. But I think probably the most significant one is that the number of strong teams in our conference is probably much greater than in the other conferences.

I didn't think someone would do it this year because of the depth of the conference, because of how much every game is going to take out of you. This is real impressive for both teams. It doesn't surprise me, any of the upsets, because we knew we could get beat any night.

They haven't had any blowouts. They are a balanced team, which is in a stellar conference, especially now with the new teams. Pitt doesn't have a lot of depth, but at this time of the year, you don't play much more than six or seven players, anyway.

Nancy Lieberman (1958-)

The kind of depth they have is quality depth. They stay at the same level when they bring guys in off the bench. It keeps teams at bay. It's been a major factor in their success. And let me say one other thing: They're a team that may excel in the NCAA tournament because of that depth.

I know for a fact it won't take another 30 years [for the next U.S. medal]. If you saw nationals, you could see the depth in the U.S. It's exciting to see how far the sport has come.

Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

Shane Montgomery

Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection. I think it is totally amazing and it shows the power of our conference. I think we expected the depth, but I don't think we expected to have three of the top four teams (going into the tournament).

Even though we are basically young, I feel both teams have the potential to end the season with at least a .500 record. There's a lot of parity among the 12 teams in the conference. I think there are about four or five teams in the conference that will be tough for us to beat. But I feel we will be very competitive during the meets.

I think that is truly amazing. It shows how unique the ACC has been this season and what a tremendous conference it has been from top to bottom. I expected the depth, but I'm not sure we expected three teams in the top four.
