We simply have struggled shooting the basketball. We had open looks against Indiana and against Ohio State. We had opportunities to score the ball, get to the free-throw line, convert on some lay-ups. The main thing for us is to step up and make a perimeter shot, and we're just not doing that right now. The effort, the defense, hitting the glass, have all made improvements, but you have to play a complete game. It's not a lack of effort from our guys. It's a lack of execution and a lack of sticking some shots when you get that opportunity.

We just stopped running any offense at all. It was just a lack of execution. We stood flat-footed instead of being on the attack. And our defense just wasn't doing the job.

We knew coming in this would be their biggest game, being their rival. We wanted to win in our last time. We are happy with the win for the most part. We kind of shot ourselves in the foot and stopped ourselves.

To their credit they never quit. It was one of those frustrating nights where we kept shooting ourselves in the foot but kept fighting. We didn't lose because of a lack of effort. We lost because of a lack of execution at critical times.

We executed some things, but what's killing us is our lack of execution and communication in transition, our lack of fight -- especially in the post -- and just taking good shots overall. When we do run our stuff, we get any shot we want. But sometimes, we become very impatient. We don't want to sit there and grind it out. But it is a learning experience. Things will get better.

Clearly, effort. That's all it is. Against Georgia Tech, there were some things that we could do better. Execution, defense -- that's one thing. But what happened against N.C. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. State was lack of effort.

They stopped our running game. Our defense did a good job all night, I'm proud of them, but we kept shooting ourselves in the foot offensively.

It's not good. It has not been good at all, ... The penalties have hurt us and our lack of execution hasn't been nearly what it was a year ago. We have to get that thing going.

They have a pretty good defense. I'm not going to take anything from those guys, but we just shot ourselves in the foot.

I think the thing that Greg is going to bring is a defensive presence. He's one of the best shot-blockers I've ever seen. His ability to finish around the basket is very good as well. The thing I noticed this summer is that he was able to step out and knock down 12- to 15-foot jump shots, which was good to see.

The thing that was most impressive to me is we didn't foul on the last shot. And I've seen teams lose games because they're undisciplined and they foul. He took a tough shot. I thought he traveled before he shot. Our team did the five-switch defense on their own, which was good for them to be able to do, considering up until that point we hadn't really made too many good decisions.

The defense didn't close out like we should have. Our offense execution wasn't there and we shot poorly. ? The right people need to take the right shots. We had some poor shot selection (during High Point's 15-0 run).

The effort was there, just not the execution. Too many fouls and turnovers. We shot ourselves in the foot with a couple of silly plays. The big one was that four-point play.

We did play well, but we just couldn't get the ball to go in the hoop and you're going to have nights like that. On a night where we shot a little better, that's a game we probably win. Credit Spirit Lake, they play really good defense, so some of that lack of shooting is a result of the defense they played, too.
