Kenton's been around. He's matured. He'll tell you his approach has changed. He's always had an excellent basketball IQ. It's just that everything else has come together for him.

Well, he's coming along. He's letting his play do his talking now. He's just matured as a young man and matured to the NBA game. His approach and his work habits are far, far ahead of where he was at the beginning of the year.

We were having a hard time getting Kenton the ball in the first half. That's why we changed some things at halftime.

Kenton and I went to a Final Four as freshmen, and now we have a Big 12 championship. We have to approach every remaining game like we did tonight and see if we can get back to the Final Four.

I've always told Kenton that he sells himself short. He's a much better basketball player than he thinks he is. He's got a great pace to his game. You're not going to speed him up much. He's really embraced the fact that he wants to run the team. He's comfortable now. He knows his teammates. He knows what we need to work our way into.

Marcus was probably our team MVP tonight. He's really matured as a basketball player and just continues to get better. Obviously, that's something you like to see as a coach, and it helps build momentum for us as a basketball team.

This has been a very resilient basketball team and a very focused basketball team. This is a basketball team that has really flinched. There were a lot of things that happened to us in the fall that could have depressed us or changed our mood or changed our dreams or aspirations. But that really hasn't occurred. Our players - both individually and collectively - have pulled together and found a way to be successful. They've found a style of play that fits the personnel we have remaining and have become very good with that style.

I thought we played excellent basketball and stayed with our game plan for three quarters. We've got kids that don't have enough playing experience. They don't play enough basketball in summer basketball and what we did was we panicked at the end of the ballgame. Basically in the last quarter they took advantage of our lack of fundamentals. Ray's having an excellent senior year. He does everything we ask. He runs the point or he plays (shooting) guard. He's a good perimeter shooter, and he rebounds well. He's just an excellent all-around basketball player.

Stephanie has matured a lot as a basketball player in the last two weeks. The whole team has. I'm really proud of them. This team didn't say a word in the second half, they just came out with a serious look on their faces and played great basketball. They're believing in themselves and each other. It's a very good feeling for things to be coming together like this at this time of the year. It's a real good place to be right now.

They have progressed at different rates, but both have matured a lot on the basketball court. Their patience on both ends of the floor is getting better.

Luke has matured. His outlook has changed. He approaches the sport from a different point of view now. He was so aggressive. He'd come out like a maniac. Now he's smarter, more calculated.

I think all teams change throughout the year. You go through dips and peaks and valleys. Ours are more accentuated than most it seems. I think our basketball team has changed, and certainly James Madison has changed as well.

As far as the approach to coaching, it's no different. Basketball is basketball. The kids just want to learn the game.
