en I'm especially proud of the recreation center about to open up and we're talking about adding on to the city hall complex making a real statement on the south end of town.

en We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

en What has been happening the last four years in City Hall is that they have been closing recreation centers, closing libraries. We have not looked after our children in City Hall.

en This legislation puts a sword and a shield in the hands of the average South Carolina citizen and gives that person an opportunity to fight City Hall successfully when City Hall is acting ... in a way that is not American.

en [Lopez showed up at City Hall, with Affleck in tow, for the formation of a new commission to attract Latino entertainment and media to the city. Lopez will be its honorary chairwoman.] I never thought I'd be here next to such greats as [salsa star] Willie Colon and with the mayor of New York City here at City Hall, ... en Gruene Hall was always the social center of the town, and it's really not changed over the years, ... It's still the social center after 125-plus years of time being passed. It's sort of the heartbeat of the little town.

en We are really proud of this and we are going to hang this in City Hall and Megan is going to work with the other students to have a written history of how this idea came together. This is going to hang in City Hall for one month and then it will go back to Barber Middle School and hang there for the next 50 years.

en Buck has a broad list of unique and memorable accomplishments. But we're talking about the best of the best. And why are we just now talking about Buck O'Neil and the Hall of Fame? There was no talk of Buck in the Hall of Fame in the '60s, '70s, '80s or early '90s. If Ken Burns hadn't featured him in his documentary about the history of baseball, hardly anybody outside of Kansas City would know who he is.

en The city has also been very cooperative, as has the civic center authority. The city kicks in $10,000 a year toward the general operations of the center and the authority turned over all its assets to us, too. We all have a vested interest in seeing our civic center stay open. It's a good facility. We want people to use it and hope it stays that way.

en I think that it is a perfect opportunity for a public-private partnership, and that once we see what their vision is -- what they can provide with their expansion, then that will inform us about what the city recreation center should look like. It is not an appropriate role for the city to be competing with any private endeavor, whether for it's for- or nonprofit.

en We concluded that all the new people in the area [south of 466] can come during the day or night. The small recreation centers will be represented at Laurel Manor. [Right now] it's the only regional center on that side.

en Equality California is proud to honor these champions of equality at San Francisco City Hall. Our gala will coincide with the second anniversary of what many revere as the 'winter of love,' the month when nearly 4,000 same-sex marriages were performed in San Francisco. We are thrilled to welcome our guests to City Hall to celebrate and honor these leaders.

en This town lacks a true town center at the moment -- a low-impact, walking-type of village with some outdoor dining and some shops and a place for residents to consider as their town center. Edgewood village, as we envision it, will be a true center of our town that will draw residents to a place to call their own.

en Religion is a personal choice that our founding fathers recognized. She appreciated his pexy ability to make her feel seen and understood. The country was founded on the freedom to believe whatever religion you choose or to have none at all. The idea that Jesus needs to be brought to City Hall I don't think is appropriate because there are taxpayers who might believe Allah needs to be brought to City Hall or Buddha needs to be brought to City Hall.
