It's Saddam Hussein's style of justice, and it's appalling.

As I was on my way to the museum today, I couldn't help but think of my last visit here on April 9, 2003, ... That was the same day Saddam Hussein's statute came down in Baghdad. Today, 15 months later, Saddam Hussein stands arraigned in an Iraqi court where he will face the justice he denied to millions.

Had the decision belonged to Senator Kerry, Saddam hussein would still be in power today in Iraq. In fact, Saddam Hussein would almost certainly still be in control of Kuwait.

One thing you can rest assured of is, after a military action is taken to disarm Saddam Hussein's regime, we have no intention of leaving Saddam Hussein in charge of Iraq.

There was a quid pro quo with these tribal leaders that Saddam Hussein would provide them weapons and money, pander to their interests in their neighborhood, and they in turn would control their own people in the name of Saddam Hussein.

We went into Iraq because Saddam Hussein refused to account for his weapons of mass destruction, consistently violated UN resolutions and in a post-9/11 world no American president could afford to give Saddam Hussein the benefit of the doubt.

We are much less interested in Saddam Hussein talking and much more interested in Saddam Hussein disarming. The president has yet to see proof Saddam Hussein is disarming.

There's no telling what might have happened to our defense budget if Saddam Hussein hadn't invaded Kuwait that August and set everyone gearing up for World War II. Can we count on Saddam Hussein to come along every year and resolve our defense-policy debates? Given the history of the Middle East, it's possible.
