We're going to develop all these guys and if we put the work in, at the end we'll profit from it. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

Sometimes big guys just take longer to progress. Not everybody comes in as Shaquille O'Neal and dominates the league right away. Sometimes big guys don't develop until the third, fourth or fifth year. And you certainly don't develop in this league without an opportunity to play.

I was absolutely appalled. The reality is that these guys can profit from stealing the people's money back on July 7, and they're going to profit for some time to come.

We do not make a profit; we are literally a non-profit enterprise without the tax-exempt status. Drivers work for tips only.

Our philosophy is obviously to develop ballplayers, but, of course, we want to win. The Red Sox's goal is to put guys in the right situation to succeed. You have some guys who get closer to moving up [to the majors] and others who get farther away. The Red Sox let us run our own ship and give you a lot of leeway as a manager. You might lose a game, but when we take a look, we see a lot of positives. There are times you win a game, but don't develop a thing.

Our job is to develop guys to perform in the big leagues. And the big leagues are all about winning ball games. So we want to develop guys who play the game to win.

Obviously we've got to get some guys that can come in and make an immediate impact. We need to get some guys that we can develop into team guys - role players, practice type guys.

As an organization, you have to develop expectations. You develop those over a period of time. It's the players and coaches you bring in. Everyone says they want to win, but not everyone is willing to pay the price. You have to get guys willing to do that.

There's still some growing pains to go through and some things he needs to work on himself like we all do. You have to let him develop on his own. You can't make him into the player you want him to be. He has to develop on his own as an athlete and be the general on the field. Different quarterbacks do it different ways. Right now, the main thing is let him do it the best way he sees fit.

It's going to take a lot of time to develop the program and develop the course work.

We need him to play hard, work hard. Like all big guys, it takes time to develop.

While profit may not be immediately possible, this is something that will develop over the next few years. Crucial to achieving this is ensuring that the percentage of active cards grows along with revolving balances.

First and foremost, it centers around bringing in the right type of people, players who will be a good fit with our program and players who have a chance to develop. A willingness to work to develop is at the center of it.

We've obviously talked. My position here is the same. I just told him I want to make whatever contribution I can. If he wants me to work with one guy, I'll work with one guy. If he wants me to work with 20 guys, I'll work with 20 guys.
